So Four Elements is basically the mechanics of Witch Trainer done correctly, but still too grindy and it with a penchant for locking you out of progressing until you complete unspecified tasks. Those two issues aside and it's pretty solid so far, outside of a few visual bugs (scenes often flash blank screens mid-intercourse) and a couple of scenes that don't have art yet. But that's to be expected considering it's not done yet.

I don't understand the gameplay designs built around grinding one resource to unlock scenes. So far on the slave route, Four Elements just holds one thing above Katara's head (her village's well-being) and then just has two methods to grind her affection and respect to a level where she'll do more extreme things depending on how much you've put into those bars. I feel like the game could be enhanced by having reasons she's willing to go to further depths of perversion, like finding out secrets about her or accomplishing more difficult tasks. Grinding the same enemy all game for affection feels sour and unrealistic. At least the other girls in the game reward you for helping them in a unique way, but the pacing on their paths is still fairly choppy and sudden.

Also I don't understand why slave trainer protags talk like they're fresh out of prison.

And while it's nicely drawn, the facial expressions just do nothing to me. Again a major point that WT does right, but it also goes hand in hand with the psychological aspect.

Hunting moose (or talking to the elders) is all far too indirect and just doesn't work with a trainer context. WT might not be perfect either, but there you're actually working with the girl, in private or public, while operating from a position of power (points to...). Great setup. But in four elements? Sure, you can visit here by day to make her do the shame-walk?! Ugh.

Again I've thought about this, the first half of the game sets things up as it should. In the current build, you get snow to join you, click one button and you're automatically a god. Everything is too fast.

In what I'm doing now, everything is different. Firstly, the meeting Snow scene is a splashscreen(before the main menu). After she decides to come with you, a small group of the Queen's men show up and claim to have followed you. This kicks off the game. The first half is about making your name and gaining supporters. It's pretty long. The second half is when Snow wakes up and the godly stuff begins.

Whilst a huge improvement over Princess Trainer, Witch Trainer is still pretty flawed design wise.
I think what people really want is a game where the grind is incorporated into the training itself and the payoff is the lewd scenes you unlock as you reach milestones in said training.
Any other elements such as income should tie into that framework in a meaningful way.

I don't understand why so many games choose to have the gameplay completely unrelated to the core premise of the game. From what I have gathered, Zelda Trainer seems to be avoiding this pitfall by tying your income to the milk produced by the girls you're training, and that income invested back into the training of the girls.

The facial expressions during erotic scenes seem to built around the love route, while the dialog (and included character portrait that often conflicts with the on-screen scene) is obviously in the slave route territory. Honestly, I think that's fairly fixable, though.

A lot of the interactions with the village itself seem weird, I'll agree. I don't know why I'm collecting stones, and the protagonist even mentions several instances where it doesn't make sense for him to be doing any of this bottomfeeder work. It becomes especially grating when you first interact with the Artisan and the protag comments on her strength along with questioning why the fuck he's hunting things when she could obviously do a much better job at it than him.

But, yeah, purely on a mechanical level, I feel it works better than WT. WT was a grind, through and through, and unless you like fapping to dialog and chibis, there wasn't much meat to the game. Four Elements has a lot more worth grinding for.

Susan's storyline pretty heavily revolves around her connection to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement through her Aunt who heads it. Hence the Halloween costume.
Character wise it doesn't make sense for her to dress up in an Oktoberfest outfit.

All of the content being added by 4 Houses will be drawn by me. We're not adding anybody else's art. Mo is making Silver Edition fully compatible with 4 Houses and he includes all of Linear's outfits in that.

I use Clip Studio Paint.
In this instance I find it easier to do the chains manually than to automate them because the cleanup job would end up being more work.

My biggest frustration with 4 Houses is the low target resolution. It makes things that would otherwise be easy a massive headache because once I resize down any fine detail is completely lost. I spend way too much time cleaning things up, and have taken to drawing some things at the target resolution to begin with.

I've got nothing against you artguy but a common mistake developers make is to talk about separate endings before reaching anywhere near the point.

Take Zombies life, Library story etc etc. Those are all set up for brilliant endings but from what I've seen, the creators haven't planned out any diverse endings. Don't get me wrong, they probably will but they're taking it a step at a time. You should do that too.

First of all this is a project that's being worked on in peoples' spare time and for free no less. It usually only gets worked on 1 or 2 days a week. Up until recently I worked full time, Rook does work full time, and Mo is a full time student who's working on multiple projects.

There have also been several setbacks and one long hiatus.
The first was when UE first disappeared (Astoria's script was entirely lost at this point).
The second was when my mum was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer last August and the doctors gave her bad odds. I pretty much stopped working on 4 Houses entirely for a few months at that time and came close to cancelling the project entirely.
The third hiatus was when my second writer Catbug left the project because he was worried about the legality of the loli content (even though all the girls in 4 Houses are 18).
It wasn't until Rook joined the project a few months back that development restarted in earnest.

I continued to work on the project in some capacity during UE's and Catbug's departures, but not as actively as I did when progress was also being made on other fronts.
