Do you wanna see your OC doing the unholy thing with a spooky monster of your choice? You've come to the right place. This is a really simple collaboration project for commissioners to get some October-themed smut for their favorite characters

>How much will it cost?
Tackling this first cause it's probably the question that everyone will ask first. We artist we are looking at the moment (secretsecretson) is very cost-effective ($15 for a shaded pic, +$6 for each full bodied character) so at the start, it's $9 each, with decreasing prices whenever anyone else joins

>Who can get in?
This one is limited to original character, but other than that, it's open for girls, futas and feminine traps. You can also join more than once with more than one character, pay more slots to have more OCs in

As for commissioning, it depends on the style, sometimes an artist that's "worse" than other is more accessible, does more fetishes or just nails a style I'm looking for, so I go for him

As a commissioner, I feel most comfortable paying after I get at least some sort of work-in-progress, like a sketch. I feel that's most reasonable for me and for the artist, because if I do end up screwing them out of the money (which I don't) it's not that huge of a deal to them.

I've of course paid for some commissions before any work's been done on it, but I know from reputation they're reliable.

Artist here yet I've never done commissions (school has rendered me unable to do so at the moment) but I'd prefer to have a sketch, policy would allow me a total of three changes on three poses I'd sketch put out there.

If the concept is loose enough I'll experiment. If I can tell the commissioner hasnt got a solid idea I wouldn't like to take any chances.

I have three commissions going on right now

First one, a two character pinup, paid full upfront almost a month ago. No word from the artist unless I contact her. Already did that twice, she said she has been busy because of her new job. No sketch or anything.

Second one, a comic page, paid upfront last Saturday. Still no word from the artist, not even a "Ok, got your payment, starting your piece", though he's still updating his tumblr. Again, no sketch or anything

Third one, a gangbang scene with two girls, first half after the sketch, second half before shading. First email was on the 1st and we've been talking almost daily with the artist updating the pic and taking in my feedback with each step. Flat colors are done and shading shall be done by the next week

It's safe to say I'm not looking forward to doing anything paid upfront anymore. Gotta keep those fuckers on a damn leash.

That's why you always ask for a half-now/half-later deal. Both you and the artist have something to look forward to. You for the finished pic, them for the rest of their money. If the artist already has their money there's less incentive to work.

Nothing bad has happened to me so far, but if I was in a place where I'm waiting a month for a sketch and the artist isn't keeping a visible queue of their work, I think getting a refund is a justifiable. I'm more than ok with waiting for a commission, I'm waiting for one right now, a week after payment and no sketch but the artist has a queue on his page and keeps posting WIPs of other commissions, so I know that he's working on it

MaxBlackRabbit. Dude was my first introduction to wow porn and has always been the best as far as I'm concerned. Love his work and I'm glad to own a couple pieces by him. But he is incredibly sporadic, close to never available, all but impossible to contact these days and took a little bit to get used to buying from. I'd love to keep buying from him but it could easily be upwards of a year between being able to get a reply. So if there's anyone else able to do roughly the same thing I am willing and happy to pay

I've got three out right now too. A few with one artist, who's been pretty responsive so far and is starting work on the sketches now. No payment yet.

Another, no payment yet, who I have to bug for updates weekly, but whenever I do get an update it's substantial.

One with half payment done, took a while to hear anything from them but they sent me four different sketches for the piece to choose from, which was great. Haven't heard from them in over a week now though. It was name your price though and they're a kickass artist.

I'll never, ever again do a commission where I pay everything up front. Last one I did took over a year (I just forgot for a few months) which evolved into constant bugging and eventual threats of getting PayPal involved. I can't do that again. Half payment max.

Just some input from an artist that does commissions. To set a pretense, I'm not big at all and mostly have regulars at this point, but they've all gone through the same treatment as anyone else.

I understand wanting to pay half upfront and half later, but I personally only do full upfront. I know most people don't like this, but I see it as the customer has more to get away with than the artist. Basing on that artists by and far charge less than they should because that's just how the market goes for small time commissions, the outcome of losing all that time spent for barely nothing sucks and isn't worth the scenario.

I think a lot of this should be resolved by knowing the reputation of the artist though. I think it's fair to ask an expected timeline to generally see how long it will take or even pay attention to their history. From the last time they opened commissions, how much work have they shown? If they've been doing commissions for a long time and have a good history of getting the job done, I don't think you should worry about when they'll finish your commission since their post history has shown they will deliver. If you really are particular about time, you should probably just stick to artists who have shown they work fast.

On the communication front, I can't speak for every artist, but in my experience, I would say I would be considered "bad" by most people as I usually speak for discussing the idea, payment request/received, and final product. When people contact me daily or every few days, it gets very annoying. Weekly can be ok, but I think it really comes down to knowing the artist's work output time. They may work faster some days or slower, but I believe you should only be worried once you don't get anything by around their average time.

That's my blogpost opinion at least.

TL;DR: Know the artist's reputation and work output time before forming any positive or negative opinion and adjusting your expectations properly.

Hello all,
So a while back I took a few commissions and was hoping to do enough that I could buy a replacement tablet, unfortunately I had a motorcross accident so my wrist got rekt.
I usually only request payment after work is complete and before sending the final drawings, so nobody lost out on any cash moneys.
Anyway, while I was out of action I managed to revive my old Lenovo tablet laptop so as I recover, I've been sketching stuff digitally. Which is a nice little silver lining to the whole affair.
To be honest, for now i'm probably going to stick to this crappy laptop as it serves basic sketching functionality, and I love being able to draw straight onto the screen (my old cintiq that died was the same dealio)

Anyway, I finished some digital sketches this arvo as a little "sorry i've been out of action and couldnt do your pics" to the original commissioner as well as a couple of Haydee fan pics for a warmup (so excuse the similar pose in both pics) - figured I'd share them with y'all
I'll be ready to do some more sketch commissions within the week I reckon - i'm able to draw for about half an hour at a time now thanks to the marvels of modern medicine (actually just resting!)

Like, I'd take a few days on a piece sometimes not because I'm working on it for a long time but because I only work on it for a few hours at a time. Hard to say. There's always pressure to keep the hourly rate in line with minimum wage, but people just might not be willing to pay that (remember, you're an independent artist setting his own prices/hours/environment, so that value isn't necessarily a given.)

Assuming that image is yours, what with the two characters, the color, and particularly the background that's fairly involved, I'd say you can get away with around $80-90. But art is a fickle and extremely subjective business and sometimes you've got to make the clients come to you, so could always shave a bit off that. At the end of the day, go with >>912671 advice and consider what makes you comfortable, if people are indeed willing to pay it.

I like to do full payment after i've provided a sketch, and I always paypal invoice. Feels a lot safer. I also update A LOT, at almost every step of the commission. I really like it when the client (??) gives feedback. I want to make them happy after all.
Also I work part time so my turn around is pretty much 2 days on full colour. So its nice to get a conveyor belt of people approving sketches, paying me, and then me finishing.

Looking for artists able to handle thick and/or Dick Suckin Lips, thicc girls, and latex. (Thick cum is also a bonus, but less picky on that)

Examples need not be all in same art piece.

I'm not a richfag, just forwarning. Flat-colors do little to appeal to me since I know how to do that myself. (learned due to that time a few years ago that artists tried to greatly overcharge for flat colors as if that wasn't one of the easiest parts of a piece.)

If you're able/willing to do latex textures in b/w, please also show an example of such. (In general for latex, both color and monochrome, the more lush, the better)

Also, you should know that unless you include name and some character information, anyone can easily get away with using 90% of an adoptable's design without paying you so long as they don't use your art, due to how copyright law applies to characters. You'll want to post those to deviantart with such info in the upload description, with contract info included about buying the IP for said character.

Also honestly I don't trust DA for a plethora of reasons, because people steal art and designs from there all the time and nothing gets done about it because of a lot of fine print text. These are just things I like to do for fun and why I post them together and with text on them so that it makes it more difficult for the person trying to take them to get away with it, but I do appreciate you letting me know and all.

Other sites like FurAffinity or blogs like tumblr are also fine, since it's the character info in text form that protects the design due to international internet copyright law.

Latex is a pretty popular fetish, both in SFW and smut communities, so it might be a rather profitable skill to invest some time in developing. Plenty of the high-roller clients on FA gravitate towards the shiny like a crow to a nickle.

I once commissioned a close friend of me and my gf's for a drawing of my gf in cute Korean fashion clothes petting my Siberian husky. This friend of ours had been saying she needed emergency commissions because her college funds were really low and she needed something to pay up.

I paid her all 25 dollars in advance, simply gave those parameters and said "Go nuts, take your time, I'm a patient guy"

My gf's bday came up, not a word.

After a month, I asked if there was a sketch. "Oh, I scanned it, I'll send it to you soon! sorry!!!)"

Take in mind, not only did she own her own art shop site, she would frequently post her buttons and art and cute doodads on her tumblr and her facebook. Still, not a single peep about my commission for more weeks.

Months passed and I would send her each week an ask about the commission, and she'd start saying she was feeling down with her relationship troubles, and after a fucking huge convo about how she cheated drunkenly on her ex, she promised she'd get back on that commission of mine.

A year passed and I basically told her "It's been more than a year." More excuses, more I'll send it to you soon, I just got fed up and got tired of the tumblr bitch.

She's no longer my friend, and I told my gf all about it. I refuse to look at her art without wanting to punch a wall because she basically fucked off with my commission, and then expected a pity party and people to buy her cheap sailor moon redraws with tumblr noses.

If she really wanted help, she'd have done the commission a long while ago, I'd have given her good rep and shared it with people so she'd, you know, get more customers.

Hell the commissio would've been super easy because her art style is all chibi and childish and her colors are simple as fuck.

Don't worry so much about making money. I draw because I want to get better. I do random requests on the general draw thread all the time for free. I post my commission sheet here to guage if people are willing to pay anything at all for my work.

So this was something I threw together really fast, so don't focus too hard on the slapdash models and little details. I also want to gauge if anyone would be willing to ask for a commission of my work. As things stand right now, for the low low price of 10 dollars, I'll draw anything you want. And I mean

I for one apprciate your willingness to make a detailed sample sheet like this.

Faces are one of the biggest selling points, and having features that are misaligned or lopsided in your samples isn't going to do you any favors.

As you imply this isn't your standard quality of work, I can only give you a Maybe for now. You also don't provide any samples of any poses more complex than standing, which isn't useful when trying to get smut clients.

Sounds like the pipeline could've used some work here. If the artist had done a simple sketch first you could've said what you like and what you want changed before they get to work on the finished product. If you've payed for the work already and the artist gives you a finished piece they're in their right to ask for an additional payment for further changes depending on complexity if you failed to mention earlier you wanted things different.. You could ask your artist about it and see how they feel about making changes, if they'll do it for free or if they ask for a fee. I'm not condemning either of you. Just something to consider on your next run.

I'd personally rather give payment up front. If I'm commissioning you then I probably think you aren't an ass, and aren't going to run with my money. Plus I'd like to put some ease on an artists mind that they aren't gonna get fucked.
