Take the first cardkey you find and instead of using it on the door right ahead, go back and use it to get the chestplate. There's another identical key hidden under the plating, so you won't get stuck.

Assuming you put the correct things in the correct folder, just open the menu ingame and go to Outfit, you should see "Outfit, Hands, Head" with arrows on either side of the 3 options; simply click the arrows to cycle outfits. If nothing changes off of the base "Haydee" named outfit, then the game isn't recognizing your custom outfits and/or you have them installed wrong.
