You might want to work on values first.
How do we perceive shape on a picture? We do it through contrasts. Getting that values right is tough, but it will also give your art some volume, since all contrast gives it a texture, a shape, a volume.
Colors come with a whole new can of worms.
You'll have more.. tools to add in contrast. More things you'll have to deal with. You won't only have darker/brighter, you'll have hues and saturation, among other things.
And colors can be weird, since they need context to work.
People with a blueish skin tint will look fitting in some arctic landscape, but will look like weirdos on a beach picture.

Have fun practicing, it's a pain and you'll suck for a long time until you see results.

I planned to only add one main quest per update but I changed it to 3-4 per update so actually, after this update comes out, there would be two or three more before the first chapter ends. The next release is more story orientated whilst the one after that will focus on solely on H-stuff. The only issue im having is how to insert the random battle scenes. It goes like this, I had an idea for a Naruto game and was thinking of how it would be done, then I remember speaking to Narudev from stg saying that he'd be interested in helping with a mass effect/naruto game. More help is always good so I let him and another acquaintance of mine work together. They pretty much handled everything well besides the releases. When I actually sat down to play the game, I noticed that there are a bunch of things that could be fixed. What I've done now is set their patreon to "release by major content" and changed pretty much the whole structure, the people who are pledged don't lose anything. When I've fully looked at it and fixed it, then I'll hand it back to them.

Here is what I did to make my edit:
-made head shape to be more circular
-smoothed head shape to be curvier
-added highlights to simulate light
-added loose strands of hair
-made eyebrows smaller and curvier
-changed eye whites to be whiter
-made iris smaller , made pupils bigger
-color picked from movie screenshot to make Violet paler
-made nose smaller and lips wider and thinner
-redraw hand to be a bit bigger

Actually looking at the right one, if I didnt know it was Violet, I wouldnt have guessed it was her. She's so dark in skin color, no headband, nose is basic white girl character nose.. It doesnt look like her. The middle is better, but a MIDDLE ground between the two noses would be perfect.

Also, it doesnt look clean. HS looks like he just grabbed colors from the other dude to prove a point and it looks sorta like a quick drawing to compare what his lacks in pretty much everything. Like.. holy shit. Why are people paying this guy to make shit? Get better taste.

You should look into Google Sketchup for making backgrounds, tropic. You won't have to worry about having straight lines or perspective since its in basic 3D anyway.
I plan to use it for another game I'm working on. Since I can draw over the models in another program.

Keep drawing circles until you can draw circles well. I'm not talking about DrawABox, I'm talking about standard art advice that has been around for literally hundreds of years.

The reason why drawing circles for practice is important is because
its about building muscle memory and precision.

Draw from the shoulder and elbow NOT from your wrist except for maybe small details.
Hold the pencil or stylus vertically to improve control.

(I would forget Keys to Drawing (by Bert Dodson right?) and work on being able to draw straight lines and decent circles;that book is more about hobby sketching and exercises but you really need to build technical skill first) otherwise you will be drawing shaky outlines and wonky forms

Once you have a handle on basic shapes you can basically break objects down into shapes and draw them.

Go from 2d flat symbol drawing to thinking in 3D with dimensions and perspective.
