If I gave a comic person references and shitty storyboard sketches of what I wanted, could they preserve the storyboard format but unfuck the angles/perspective to make it look like it should instead of copying/tracing over exactly what I storyboard? Well a good thing to try if possible, since you seem to think very little of your art skills, is to use ready made examples and make a 'collage' of sorts to show the comic.

Snip a panel from a hentai that you like for this one panel, use a porn image for the pose you want them to have etc, along with whatever alterations to the base you want. "Like this, but with her legs locking behind him" as an example.

If I'm commissioning - and as an artist myself - I want the artist to go beyond what he or she has known as their limits.
I want a story that speaks to the kid in me. And the kid in me was a MAD pervert. And I'm not the only one.
But not all of us are the biggest anime fans, and not all of us are the biggest fans of abstract, obscure, complex sexual imagery. sometimes the simple stuff is juuuuuuust right. It's doing more with less.

I would help a struggling artist pay their rent for a month or two if I knew they were dedicated to creating something they could look back on and feel very, very proud about. And the feeling of proud, if you've ever felt it, is an amazing feeling. Not, exhausted, like you finally finished it! An exhaustion that never dies because you are constantly thinking of ways to make everything you make even better. And you succeed at every attempt, and your failures are either learning experiences or Bob Ross happy accidents.

Hey everyone, I have zero artistic skill but I'm going through the commissions Google Doc and making a spreadsheet based on it for easier searchability n shiet. Hopefully get commissionfags more business or at least more relevant to their interests business.

If OP/whoever maintains the spreadsheet is around, I can upload it to EtherCalc when I've finished it, and from there if you want it you and commissionfags can either work straight off of there or download it and import to Google Docs if you'd rather (I like to get away from Google, but EtherCalc has a pretty limited and clunky interface). Either way I'll try to download backups somewhat regularly in case someone wipes or messes it up.

Or if for some reason you hate spreadsheets I guess just tell me to fuck off.

Spreadsheet fag here, getting it done but it's sort of metastasized into a separate master sheet, price lookup sheet, and fetish/content lookup sheet.

That said I'm thinking rather than trying to replace the Google Doc maybe I should just make this a separate in-thread thing I do. I'm thinking there'll be a thing where drawfags leave a date when they review/edit/update their lines, or just whenever they're around for drawings, so people know which drawfags are actively taking commissions on /aco/.

That said, I see most drawfags don't want to do loli/shota/etc (btw for legal reasons you should probably all stop using the term "underage", even if you're saying it's something you DON'T do...not that probably anyone will care, but better safe than sorry), and I frankly just don't enjoy helping pedophiles and 2dophiles, so I think I might just have the spreadsheet be for artists and requesters who want nothing to do with a few things like that. Would still be most of the artists on the google doc (which is still the primary resource for people anyways), and would save some columns.

Anyone have some really convincing reason why I shouldn't do this?

Not that anyone asked me to weigh in, but I do think that any drawfags who decide to use Bitcoin might get more commissions. So far I have an endless stream of Paypal only with the occasional Google Wallet.

Now, Bitcoin fluctuates and is a pain to use, but you can get an online wallet that does most of the work for you, I think there are even some payment processor things that do the conversion (at present time) from USD to BTC, might allow you to set up an overpay to cover fluctuations as well. Most anons are tech-illiterates who could never into Bitcoin, but some of the ones with actual money to spend on real commissions probably have their shit together and might be more inclined to buy if they could be totally anonymous and not rely on you or have anything on their Paypal or credit card statements that might ever somehow reveal that they're into furry futa shitting dicknipples. Of course there are also sites that will do the work of selling your bitcoin for you....basically, you decide you want the money for the commissions, you send your BTC to them and they give you a Paypal transaction or direct deposit or money wire or so on. Bit of a hassle and you've got to be smart and wait until you actually get the transaction and the blockchain has cleared it, but hey, more money. Maybe.

What the fuck kind of retarded drawfags are you commissioning that they'd put that anywhere in the invoice.

You title the fucking thing as "sketch/lineart/full color" and get done with it, you don't send over an invoice with "furry futa commission with dicknipples" as the product. Paypal is okay with the sale of 18+ art, but as far as transparency goes, you pretty much need to smack "digital drawing commission" on it and you're fine.

BTC is a sucky payment method due to the unstable fluctuation, and your "send your BTC to them and they give you Paypal" is way more complicated than it needs to be.

Get your shit together: just ask the drawfags to title the invoice discretely, no one needs to know what kind of shit you're into.

Drawfags: if you feel reluctant about paypal, that's fine, ask away, someone will be able to give you alternatives to your issues or provide answers to unfounded worries (plenty of people are still under the impression paypal has lewd art sales banned). There are other venues for payment, but they tend to be more reliable/cheaper within the US only, as they still rely on bank deposits.

Bitcoin IS a viable source for payment, but it's not going to get you more or less commissions because paypal is the commission staple online. You could potentially earn higher revenue due to the fluctuation, but if you rely on commissions as more than pocket money, it's not desirable in the least, and you could risk losing money even if you overprice to compensate.

The fact is no artist worth their salt who is willing to draw those things will send an invoice that reveals it, and short of really being pissed off at the artist, no commissioner is going to try to get the artist in trouble for it. I've done shota commissions before, I name my invoices appropriately and forget who asked for what pretty quickly thanks to that, and a happy customer is a returning customer is a non-problematic customer.

Having one e-mail for contact and discussion separate from the payment e-mail is really the safest way to go about it.

If people are just generally skeevy about their real name being linked to lewd art, I'd recommend not doing/buying lewd art at all and stick to requesting things in drawthreads. If you're a drawfag and don't want it linked back to you that badly (perhaps fear of soiling your future career in animation), maybe don't do lewds at all.

Hey, I need some thoughts on my current situation. I have a paypal account and have been doing commissions here and there using the friends/family methods (which I learned is really bad because I could have my account frozen) but I have a problem.

I do not have a bank account nor the means to go travel to one. And even if I did a certain relative of mine would hassle me as to why I'd get one and would get me in trouble for not answering their question.

And another thing I realized is that if I wanted to commission an artist or writer or whatever for anything, I'd be boned because more than likely, they'll want an invoice, which I need a linked bank account to accept, make, etc.

I can't commission without a proper account because I'd likely lose my account as it is now and all the change I have now or possibly make a trade with someone (which isn't likely because 1. They need money, which I completely understand. And 2. I'd much rather pay them for the work).

From what I gather you're both an artist and a commissioner? Let's go over this:

-Friends/family and donation methods in paypal should NOT be used to accept payment or give payment for a commission. It does against their TOS, and it can lead to having your account frozen permanently. Many artists are reluctant to use invoices because Paypal takes a portion of the transaction: accept the fact any online payment needs a client to go through, and everyone's going to charge fees unless you're willing to give strangers your bank account details so they can make a direct payment on that.

-You can't open a bank account and your family would ask why if you requested their help? This is kind of a red flag for underage, anon, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because some folks are nosy. If you're an adult, you should be able to tell family you want a bank account for savings or online purchases, you don't actually have to tell them you want to pay for lewds.

Account verification is sadly a requirement for making paypal invoices, so you can't get around this (not sure if you need verification for paying an invoice, my guess is you do need it). You can pay for invoices without a verified paypal account, but you'd need a credit or debit card -- which I assume you also don't have, as those by default have a bank account linked to them.

You're pretty much stuck needing a bank account. Look into getting one, or look into the bitcoin thing mentioned above, perhaps.

You're not going to get any further revenue for the art, even though it will likely create revenue for the commissioner, and credit without payment = payment in exposure, which means nothing but more people asking if you'll work for that.

Prices for use in commercial purposes should always be higher than for non-commercial purposes because you're giving away the rights for the piece. In general, don't give your normal prices unless you are to be paid more further down the road based on the commercial gain of the project.

You should make a comm sheet, check out some of the pics ITT for reference. Generally people do pricing (most common is sketch price, line price, color price, extra price per additional characters, extra price per detailed background), contact info (don't have to have a tumblr, can be Skype, email, etc), what you will/won't draw, how long you expect the average commission to take (just a rough estimate), etc.

Bad news first - I had almost finished with the basic spreadsheet for the list of drawfags, computer crashed, autosaves were mysteriously kill, and apparently I hadn't saved since the very beginning.

The good news is that starting over made me decide to make the separate sheets like I had mentioned before, and I figured out a good way to do them. Should be pretty convenient for drawfags and also really good for buyers, especially if they export a copy so they can sort and filter in a real spreadsheet program.

I'm still working on it, but does anyone have a non-personal Google account? Maybe OP if you're still around ITT? If someone trustworthy can just start a blank publically-editable spreadsheet, I'll set it up and maintain it, I just don't have an anon Google account, or a phone which Google now needs to set up new accounts.

Hey anon, good timing. Just finishing up with the first sweep of fetishes/content/etc spread. I'll post below just people who have explicitly said "I will do IRL people" or people who said emphatically and not just incidentally "I will do ANYTHING, ANYTHING EVER".
