It might be her general lack of any features to create a facial expression, but she also looks more alien to me than nightmarish - I think the nightmare thing needs something to instil a bit of fear, be that evil grinning faces like a lot of the demons and ghosts itt or body horror like the nurses and zombified/undead things. Likenesses of real things that inspire horrified reactions like wounds and skulls seem to work as well.

Hope you don't mind the feedback man, I'm trying to work on my drawing myself atm so I only try to be helpful - It's nice to see OC, I hope to provide some of my own soon.

Get some ideas rolling here first. We'd need a feature scope and some basic ideas first before we jump into things. I'd say the writer's pretty important upfront, since we need a direction to start moving in.

2d or 3d? In order of difficulty the possible engines would be RPG Maker (2d), Gamemaker (2d), and Unity (3D). I've got some base code and assets for all three. 3d isn't impossibly hard and there's more ready-made code assets, but character modelling can be difficult.

Also I feel like it shouldn't have a crapton of mechanics. Just pick up/use, puzzles, running, and jumping. Simple base feature-set that's given depth by context. Well first off we'd have to think of the premise of the story. Do we want a simple (Nightmare) Highschool story? A college variant? Or something original. There's multiple of those if I'm speaking honestly so we'd need something that's interesting but offers variety in some way. I'm forming a basic idea but I don't want to go to far ahead.

Then we'd need to consider location, era (level of technology, events and the like that have or will happen). An alternate Earth? A mysterious realm? A merged reality? And do we want a "perfect" world where there's hardly any issues? Or a world where the issues are being dealt with in some way? There's hardly any limits, its just up to what we'd like to do.

Then of course there's the characters and what we all have in mind for them. Their personalities, ethnicity, how many are in the story, variants of MC(male/female/futanari/other), backgrounds and the like.

Once we have a general idea of what we'd like from all this, we can start there, and make any changes as we go on.

Are all me, so you know what my vote towards premise is. I had the idea that it's just a sort of mansion on the surface, but the lower you get, the more demonic and fucked up the decor and general setting gets. This ties into the whole 'you can just escape or you can dig deeper' alternate ending idea I had.

I was thinking keep it relatively simple by just having the MC and the monsters- everything else would be portrayed by text or audio to keep development relatively easy. I don't feel technology would come into play heavily in a closed setting like I said. As for the different monster types, I was thinking, like I said, you can either avoid them, or try to do various things to 'placate' them (and make them want to jump your bones).

Again, my focus is mostly on 'keep things simple'. I've done some game dev before, so I know how easy it is to bloat on features. I'm more worried about making the base game idea work and concepting horrorsexy monsters before getting too worried about the setting (although it IS a major priority, don't get me wrong).
