not really a quality gap, more of a style gap. The client wanted it to look exactly like the face in the picture he sent me with overtly large boobs. When you draw a realistic face with a not so realistic stylized body, this kind of gap will happen.

If I can possibly offer some perspective that you may or may not have.

Think of it like the packaging of a product at the store. People want the comfort of feeling that they know exactly what a product is and what it does the moment they look at the packaging, most of all they'll want to know the cost. It's unlikely that most people would look at a card that says "We promise it's some really really good bread, talk to your cashier for the option to buy". They'll almost always take what is right in front of them and will be very loyal to a product that has met their expectations in the past. If you're really interested in making some money off of commissions it the value of a concise commission sheet can not be overstated.

I don't know about others but I've been using DA to take NSFW commissions for a few years.
I don't mention it publicly but people know I draw porn because of my style and some censored drawings I upload there, plus I regularly mention I put things in R34 so they know what they can get in terms of what I do and don't draw.

Any porn commission is done privately and, if the client wants, they can share it wherever they'd like.

So, how do people go about getting paid for lewd Commissions. I do a lot of sfw commission through paypal and don't want to risk losing that mode of income. Is there a fool proof way of sneaking your work on through or an alternative paysite that won't scare off commissioners?

To my understanding, it's perfectly acceptable to sell adult art through paypal, with an exception:

Paypal doesn't allow "obscene content"

There is no definition for "obscene content"

Paypal can call literally any adult content obscene if they don't like any aspect of it, and there's nothing you can do about that.

If they find a connection from your paypal to your website, or similar, and find that you've drawn something they don't like, they can legally terminate your account permanently.

That said, unless you're a huge artist, you're unlikely to be in any danger so long as you use invoices and omit any reference to adult content and your websites. Just make your invoices say something like "Single character full color digital commission."

It's also probably a good idea to state that the goods are digital and don't require shipping, and that payment is final, unless the artist deems a refund necessary.

I'm pretty sure I've bought porn passes before through Paypal so it's a bit weird they don't allow you to buy nsfw art through it.

Also, if a contact thing says "send a message on tumblr", is that the chat thing? I don't really use tumblr and there's a number of artists I'd like to commission on it.

Pretty much. The odds of your paypal being deleted are incredibly low. Would only really happen if someone reported you directly, and even then, if there is nothing linking your paypal account to your art, that wont matter. The important thing is to use a DIFFERENT email for your paypal than you do for your comm contact, and preferably something that is nothing like your art name. Also, tell people to not add comments.

I've paid for commissions anywhere between 50-$120 per picture. Most commissioners give me their bill after they do the sketch and I can finalize approval. I'd also much prefer if you could send occasional progress pics so I can give input on it if I see things off.

Now, when it comes to marketing myself for commissions and selling my work on shirts and the like, i am probably doing that every day. Checking Deviant Art, Kijiji, Craigslist, Tumblr and Conceptart.org for commission work. Also try to contact at may sites and fan groupls ass possible so sell my shirts which god knows how many hours i spend doing that.

I used to make a killing selling shirts to, about 200$ per month last year over on TeePublic and Rudbubble. But due to DMCA takedowns and me having to retag all of my artwork on those site to avoid them getting removed, i now make next to nothing no a days and thus why i have to bust my ass for commission work.

Hmm, there are some doujins that nobody has ever translated before that I'd like. I'm pretty skeptical though, since a lot of translations tend to be incorrect. I always see multiple translations of doujins from different groups and often the text is completely different.
