Here is a good start. Do some fanart on tumblr (and don't forget to properly tag it), especially try making fanart of other artists OC's so they'll reblog it and give you some publicity.

Besides tumblr try having an account on Hentai-Foundry, Pixiv and other sites to increase the amount of reach you have, but also for the sake of having back up galleries.

Here's the thing... if you asked for the nightgown and didn't mention the nude edit until later, I would charge you, because it's harder to edit out the nightgown than it is to make the original art work nude and edit in the gown later. So, as long as you mention that you want a nude edit beforehand, I likely wouldn't charge extra.

Question to the artists. I want to commission something with this version of Selina Kyle. One artist that rejected the project considers i'm essentially trying to get porn of the actress and got all preachy with me. I could care less about Carmen, i just like the idea of a teenage Catwoman, and i think they nailed the design here.

It's great that you have a ton of examples but I think it's hard to gauge how much a commission would actually cost. e.g. in the associated image, which one represents a $50 image and which would cost $125?
In the text description it says that lines are more expensive than flats etc, so are you saying $50 only gets you tier 3 line-art?

I find it a little confusing compared to the price sheets people have produced in here. That's just my 2 cents and other people may differ in opinion.

I think I'd want a better, even rough idea of what something would cost before contacting.

A piece like that is basically tier 3, 1.5 figures, simple shading. Something like that would be in the $65-$85 range roughly.

Personal question to artfags, how many of you are literally starving artists?
It seems like a trend. For every successful drawfag, there's a thousand of you struggling to get by. Do you come to /aco/ to actively look for work? Or is this like a side thing that gets you a little extra monies every month?

Well, in my case, I do video game freelance work, which has a habit of paying very little, and drying up or flooding with very little notice either way. I like to do commissions on the side, but I always feel bad if a sudden deluge of freelance work causes me to postpone my commissions (which pay far less). Unfortunately, that's what's happening right now.

Anyhow, the commissions help by giving me a little extra pocket change between freelance jobs, but I don't charge enough to make a living off of them.

When I was young, and just starting to notice girls, the internet wasn't a huge thing yet (the AOL disks had only just begun to pile up in people's mail boxes). I already liked to draw, so trying to draw naked girls (cartoon girls, because realism is difficult for a 12 year old) just seemed like a natural solution to me. Obviously, I didn't know shit back then, so when my family finally got on the internet, it was a huge eye-opener for me. Not only could I finally see naked girls, but I wasn't the only one who liked to draw naked cartoon girls.
