>I really wish I could fuckin draw.
Well, if you want to try drawing a naked Secret or something for this thread, I at least would appreciate the effort. Gotta start somewhere and sometime, after all, and doesn't here and now fit that bill?

I can draw and I like Exalted, who should I draw?

>>420492
Every artist started out as someone who couldn't draw.
I actually have a fair bit.
Ya see, a long ass time ago when I first got into Exalted I managed to find a big ass file with all of the books.
It also had a file with these pics. Which I of course kept....Recently got back into Exalted with 3rd edition finally getting released and found my old folder with all of these pics.
Sadly I can't seem to find them on the net anyplace else and many of these pics aren't in the books.
Hey, remember Scroll of Swallowed Darkness? Good times.

What are the characters? Right is an elf? Left human?
>Bread is up once again.
Did I miss any of these things since the first thread went down?
While i'm at it, would this qualify as falling within the thick meme running around non porn boards?
Seeing an exalted thread is hilarious to me, as I've been discussing the game with a buddy for awhile now. He talks it up pretty well and I know he's excited by it...but...
Well, let's just say that cutting his teeth on Exalted when he was still in shortpants means every character in EVERY game he's played from then on ends up effectively being a Solar.

Well, if he doesn't finish it, I will. I vectored and colored >>419700 a while back and am now working on >>419709.
>>463581
Won't come too quickly, though. I'm very slow with this and have only been able to get through about two characters per week.
>>463583
But after I get through this, I'll move on to >>456863, then >>419718, >>431188, and then >>459162, because that'll take the most finishing.
>>463586
I'm still refining my technique with each of these (and am posting them in the order I've done them).
>>463589
So I'll be doing the main KoC ladies last in >>419709, because I want to do them the most justice.
>>463591
And here's a half-finished Tawereth, and that's all I've got for now. Probably won't finish all fourteen characters before this thread dies, but if there's a decent wait until the next one I should have all I've mentioned done by then.
>>463581
These are lovely!
>>461743
That particular one is by /tg/ drawfag/questrunner Deculture, of Magical Girl Noir.
>>463581
Oh hey, you did more! That's cool. I know they're my own drawings, but when you do this much with them, it sort of alters them enough that I can get some idea of what my art must look like to someone else. I like getting the chance to see that.
That given, I kind of have to repeat what I said the last time I saw you do this! That is: these pics kind of take minor errors that are permissible in sketches, and carry them through into a level that, if I'd done it myself, I would have cleaned them up along the way. Like, that original Marena and Secret pic, one of Marena's arms I left longer than the other. And in the big lineup picture, I made all the guys dicks too big! So, I don't know. I certainly don't want you to stop, but if you spot minor proportion errors like that, that can be solved with five seconds with a nudge or scale tool, go on with them. I'd also adjust the proportions on the legs to put the knees a little higher, in most of these cases.
I also feel like asking you not to do >>431188 at all, since it has a bunch of mistakes. Mostly the misalignment of their hips and crotches, and Racer's broken neck.
Speaking of Racer and Akatrina, though, I did do another picture of them. Because he's a horse lunar and she's, obviously, modeled after a headless horse(wo)man, see. I like them together. And yes, she can take off her head. Technically spoilers, but only technically because I don't know how anyone didn't see that coming. The idea came from an Exalted discussion I remembered, years ago now, about whether an Abyssal who had their head cut off could be offered Exaltation and receive it in the time their head was still alive. Maybe that makes this pic a bit weird, I don't know, but there you go. Not a perfect pic, either, but I like it better than that last one of them.
Do you want me to tell you the skin tones/hair of the characters that haven't appeared in color? You pretty much guessed Tawereth right. Did you guess her and Askelaff's animals?
>>466507
Thats... A very special scene. Watching yourself having sex real time.
>>464161
Well, thanks!
Here's the finished Tawereth, and -
>>466507
Oh my.
>kind of take minor errors that are permissible in sketches, and carry them through into a level that, if I'd done it myself, I would have cleaned them up along the way.
I did wrestle with that. I tried to avoid changing the lineart where possible; every time I change one of your lines for mine feels to me like I'm sucking the life out of it; taking it from your "thick-lined and squeezable" to my "overwrought and lifeless". Plus I can't always tell what's intended and what's not: things like the asymmetries I manage to catch or the sketch being skewed I'll try to fix, but I'm not going to mess with things that look like they might be stylistic choices. So even if every guy has a penis as thick as his forearm I'm not going to mess with that, just like I'm not going to shrink their eyes down to regular human size.
Of course, I am taking the liberty of filling in the parts I can tell are missing/unfinished, like hands or everything below mid-thigh. This I KNOW I'm not doing exactly as you'd do it, so I just try to keep the overall level of detail the same. I'm not going to, say, give them toenails off a sketch where the noses are defined by single lines. But yes, I'm inexperienced (but am using this as practice,) so errors there are all mine.
>put the knees a little higher
Errors like that! Will fix going forward. Will also look more closely at "scaling/nudging proportion errors", because that's a rule of thumb that helps clear up my dilemma above, thanks.
>not to do >>431188 at all.
Got it; minus one broken neck, plus one REALLY broken neck!
>Do you want me to tell you the skin tones/hair of the characters that haven't appeared in color?
Please do; I'm flying blind there. (Also, what's that thing on Akatrina's left hand?)
>Did you guess her and Askelaff's animals?
Tawereth's a cow/other bovine, and Mundegar's a walrus, but Askelaff and Garmir I don't know.
>>466924
>things like the asymmetries I manage to catch or the sketch being skewed I'll try to fix, but I'm not going to mess with things that look like they might be stylistic choices.
That's perfectly sensible. Overall, it's not that I mind much, it just gives me a moment of instinctive "oh man I should have fixed that".
>what's that thing on Akatrina's left hand
It's a gun! Or flame piece, this being Exalted, only what she's using isn't technically a flame piece. It's an artifact thing. Sort of a revolver, only magic. Black magic. Not that the Dragon's Shadow deals in any other kind.
>Tawereth's a cow/other bovine
Close! She's a hippo. Mundegar is indeed a walrus. It's not much of a spoiler to say Garmir is a mongrel dog, and Askelaff's name is based directly on his totem animal: ascalapha odorata, the Black Witch moth. Tawereth and Garmir's names aren't too far removed from their totem animals, either.
>hair/colors
As said, you guessed Tawereth pretty well. All the other ladies have been in color, and Ten, Racer and Misho were as well, in KoC. Mundegar actually made a brief cameo in the background of one panel of one page there, as well, but for convenience, he's a northern sailor type with fair skin, grey-blue eyes and red hair. Peregrin you've got about right, though I'd make his hair closer to white, and Askelaff I actually imagined as being pretty dark, though not as dark as Marena, Aria or Tawereth. Picture a naturally dark-skinned person who never gets any sunlight and you'd have about the right idea. Garmir, finally, fitting his mongrel totem, would be roughly around the same sort of generic brown that Saulanna is, though he'd be a bit paler and would have black hair.
>>467019
>it just gives me a moment of instinctive "oh man I should have fixed that".
Ah yep, the artist's curse. I'm probably looking at different parts of them when I think the same thing.
I think when I put the whole thing together, I'll phrase the credit in the corner "From original uncleaned sketches by Jukashi" as a further disclaimer that these shouldn't be taken as representative of your best work, just in case.
>It's a gun! Or flame piece, this being Exalted, only what she's using isn't technically a flame piece. It's an artifact thing. Sort of a revolver, only magic.
Oh, got it! I suppose that's one of the things I should fancy up rather than leave as a rectangle. My first thought was to make it somewhat 18th century-styled, because here in the USA the most famous Headless Horseman is from "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". But I see Akatrina Dullahan has different origins, so if you want me to pick a different motif, I will.
>Lunar color schemes
So Askelaff's somewhere between Saulanna and Marena, but chalkier, grayer, less vibrant. And I found Mundegar in Nova's city; that'll do.
>>467853
>My first thought was to make it somewhat 18th century-styled, because here in the USA the most famous Headless Horseman is from "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". But I see Akatrina Dullahan has different origins, so if you want me to pick a different motif, I will.
There's not really one main overall style for her. There's a lot about her that's just made up, and/or derived from Exalted's own themes, plus a grab-bag of whatever I thought looked cool and fitted together. There are large elements of highwayman, musketeer, and a little bit of pirate, in addition to the classic sleepy-hollow-era stuff and a couple of things from other headless horseman myths. If you really closed in on the detail of her outfits, like on embroidery on her clothes and and touches on her weapons, there'd also be sinuous serpentine style in shades of dark colors and black to evoke her employer's themes. However you draw the pistol, though, I'll have to reserve the right to do something totally different if/when it comes up in the actual quest.
>So Askelaff's somewhere between Saulanna and Marena, but chalkier, grayer, less vibrant.
That's about right. He's still Exalted, though, so he shouldn't look too unhealthy.
>>469356
>I'll have to reserve the right to do something totally different if/when it comes up in the actual quest.
Of course, of course. I'm looking forward to if/whenever that might be.
Whatever I come up with for her gun will have to wait until I get through Mundegar and Garmir first, though, and this thread might not last that long. In any case, when I get through everything I have queued up I'll send it all your way, probably at your drawthread. (Going to be at least a few weeks, though!)

All Makas are best Maka
>>471446
Glad you like her. I'm still a bit uncomfortable drawing Akatrina, and I'm not sure why. Not uncomfortable as in, like, morally or anything, just like in an artistic sense. Like there's something still a little stiff in her that I haven't gotten to sit right, yet. Proportions or her body's natural line of action or something of that nature. It's odd. Hard to describe. Not that I can make claims to being a super great artist, anyway, as the broken neck illustrated.
Here's one more Akatrina this thread doesn't have yet.
>>474245
Hm. Whom (or what) would you say you are most comfortable drawing?
>>476321
No-one in particular is the "most" comfortable, I'd say. It's mostly a matter of practice, but it varies day to day as well. Some days you can't get someone looking right at all, and some days they just flow off your pen easily.

It's a game of savage adventure heavily inspired by mythology (particularly with a "Bronze Age" flavor) and anime.
>>560910
I don't want to clutter the thread with non-nudes and non-porn, but I will post a picture of one of the signature characters in case an artist wants to use it as a reference.
This is Harmonious Jade. She was an assassin raised by a demon-worshiping cult who broke free from them and was chosen to be a champion of the Unconquered Sun, greatest of the gods.
Other popular ladies include the Scarlet Empress, savior of the world and (until her mysterious disappearance) ruler of much of it (in theory if not in practice) and mother of an empire, her daughter Mnemon, Lover Clad in Raiment of Tears (a sexy, evil queen of the world of the dead), and Tepet Ejava, the Roseblack (a brilliant military commander). There are lots sexy people in Creation, the world of Exalted.
>>439349
Mel got sick of the attention they were garnering. So she removed them.

>>453577

>>560918
Oh hey, thanks for these, didn't think anyone would bother. The story reads like the freakin bible or something, got some Ulysses vibes.
Anyway, starting off with the fox girl(?). Not done yet, 3rd time drawing a fox girl in my life, and I'm practicing colouring, so it's gonna look like ass, forgive me. Will finish up once I get back home, just wanted to get this out in case I die tonight.
>>568055
Excellent!
And she's Marena, from Keychain of Creation (keychain.patternspider.net), which is Exalted's Order of the Stick. Somewhat less wordy and a great deal less alive, but it felt like about a third of the Exalted fanbase came in through that comic back in the day, so maybe you should check it out.
>>560918
>This is Harmonious Jade. She was an assassin raised by a demon-worshiping cult who broke free from them and was chosen to be a champion of the Unconquered Sun, greatest of the gods.
What's hilarious is that the cult leader freaked out about her getting Exalted and ordered her dead, which is what broke her out of the cultist mindset.
If he just kept her in, he would've had deadly badass assassin.
>>568330
IIRC, that cult leader was prophesied to be killed by an exalt, making it one of those self-fulfilling destiny type deals. Sidereals must have been patting themselves on the back for that one.
>>426861
Two main options are likely:
- Dragon-Blooded, which are a kind of human-plus from the Exalted setting that have elemental themed magic powers. Think like the Avatar series, except it's elemental everything instead of just elemental fighting. The most potent bloodlines can have stuff like pointy ears and obvious elemental-themed traits like fish scales/leaf hair/etc.
- Raksha, which are often "elves" aesthetically, but can blend elements of all sorts of fairy tales and different mythology (like rakshasa or Native American trickster spirits). They can physically vary widely based on whatever their specific themes, so even stuff like pointy ears is more like a social convention than a necessity. Unlike Dragon-Blooded, the Raksha aren't metaphysically "human" on some level, though humans can turn into them under the right conditions.
>>453509
I'm genuinely really curious about the context of this one.
>>426861
The woman with the scales and tattoos is Heysha Black Asp, who was voted into canon following an online contest some 12 years ago to decide who would be on the cover of the Exalted Player's Guide. The other two are a Solar and a fae-blooded Solar (part Fair Folk, part human, later Exalted), if I recall correctly; you can possibly find the characters searching for "Ken and May", or sift through the Freedom Stone's porn fanwork board. They're from the group of someone who goes by Kenshiro on the TFS forums.
>>568055
Hey, that's good. One of the characters in my game is in a relationship with a fox girl. She's not a Lunar, but this may still see use.
Yeah, I mainly posted that big, long thing as a joke. Most of that stuff isn't all that important to the setting the way the characters in it experience it (although it is all accurate, up to and including the dinosaurs that piss heroin). The setting is really intended asa world of savage, pulpy adventure and heroism (kinda like Conan) with an epic/mythic feel and themes (though in second edition the setting did get a little... dysfunctional). The Bible and the various Greek epics are indeed important influences. This *never* gets referenced in any official book, but the single best thing mythological source to give an idea of what the setting is like is Cuchulain. The heroes even have heroic auras.
If you're interested in the setting, I'd recommend downloading some of the books in the links and "flipping through" to look at the pictures and read the fiction. 2E has comics for the chapter breaks, too, which is nice. Fair warning: you might want to skip Manual of Exalted Power: The Infernals unless you're into /d/ stuff. At least skip the first chapters.
Pic related is the Scarlet Empress, the most (politically) powerful person and the greatest hero in recorded history (though likely not the greatest of all time). Her empire was the greatest in the world. (Un?)fortunately, she disappeared a few years before the game starts.
>>572496
A version from an earlier edition. The supplicant in this one is Tepet Ejava, the Roseblack.
>>559268
For a quick and dirty 'this is the essence of how it looks', look up Mel Uran, she's basically the key-stone the company uses for the art.
So, where's everybody go for their Exalted fandom fix these days? Where are half these characters from? What's Jukashi doing these days? Where do I find more of this delicious Maka lady? I have seriously fallen far, far out of the fandom since Exalted Online closed.
