Yeah, I softened those in my tweaks as well. The lines that run from the nose to the edge of the mouth are almost traps in art, real people have them, you want to put them in, but attempting to do so almost always makes the person look older than intended. Same with lines anywhere under the eyes.

Well, Princess Trainer was technically "finished." There are incomplete parts of it, namely the whole Lola section, but most of that was side content anyway. The core game is complete-able from start to finish with a decent amount of content, considering it was the first game of that size he made.

Akabur is working on the 'gold' edition, but I'd consider that more of an upgrade, rather than 'finishing' the game.

what would be the best to use for very simple movement based games with basic rpg elements?

e.g left to right movement and attack 10 times, attack goes up 1

Lets just assume you're asking "what would be the best engine"... In which case I strongly recommend Godot, for both side scrolling and topdown, great support for 2d sprites, tilesets with collisions and background... dedication is required though...

Ren'py is easy but mucking around its basics (importing images, having dialogue) its just click and talk. any character transitions would likely be scene by scene not left to right within a scene

doesn't really matter, there are only improvements I can note on the alpha, but there is the potential of weird bugs creeping out.
I recommend going stable to learn it though, since most of the tutorials on documentation are based on that.

But the best thing for you to get info, would be on their IRC chat, very active and friendly people

started adding sprites, but then rl stuff got in the way

toying with the idea of Hermione as the protag with the outfits being her gear, so she'll get sluttier as she gets stronger (purely because I'm no artist and it all nicely overlaps the base model) school uniform is the starting stuff, find a lvl 10 skirt and it could be 10cm shorter etc

but I'm a long way off coding all that, just having her move will be the next step

It's good for a quick sketch.
Shadows and highlight are wrong but I gess that you already know : you applied them quickly to give us a quick wip, thank you, it's nice to see some good art on /stg/
Just a few points :
Hands are good but the left one looks really stiff (not integrated in her pose : it should goes smoother on the curve of her thigh)
The right elbow might also need some little rework

Overall it will be very good once finished, grats !

It will not bother me if the storyand the code are good, the game will still be good enough for me to fap, even with the unfinished art.
Regarding the light and shadows, they do not define the correct anatomy. Here are some examples :
The two shadows that starts at the waist line, are you trying to define the illiac crest ? are they occlusion shadows or cast shadows ? On her left forearm : the shadow has no volume. The shadow of her right boob looks weird, No cast shadows from the hair,

Regarding the highlights, the worse one is the one near the belly button. And if you have that strong of an highlight on the right on her face, you should have some more on the nose and even more on the right arm.

I can go like that again and again. Once again you are a better artist than me, so I do not want to nag you and if you consider the piece as "finished", it's your piece of art and it is indeed good enough as it is ;-)

For the hair casting a shadow, I removed it because it caused too much visual noise.
The lighting is intentionally the same across and doesn't have too much range specifically for style reasons.
the right boob shading is fucked up and I overlooked that completely. I don't care enough to fix it though.

Just for fun, I took your drawing in photoshop and flip it horizontally. You construction is very good, I cansee that you have a very good talent for sketching. Finishing a piece takes a very long time and I guess that it is less rewarding that making quick sketch. I can't know because, as you may have guess, I have never finished one myself (but I am a computer science engineer, not an artist).
Anyway, as I said, I flip it, it's very well constructed, very solid foundation for a great piece of art, except for the left nipple (on her right once flipped) which is misplaced (buit I did not see it on the original, so don't bother as well. I was just wanting to congratulate you for your sketching skills.
