long long ago, at a convention that may or may not be far away, there was a writer for star trek. This takes place in that time after the original series got canceled, but people did massive letter campaigns, and managed to bring it back in the form of an animated series.
This writer was at the convention, and a fan managed to get him to listen. The fan went on about this idea for a star trek episode, dealing with the tribbles.
It didn't matter that such a thing was already being worked on. The fan went on, and the writer nodded his head at certain times, and said yes at all the appropriate points.
The fan all excited, asked if his idea could be used. The writer said 'we'll see'.
Sometime later the tribbles episode aired, and while it had little to do with the fan's actual story idea, that didn't stop him from contacting paramount, and proceeded to utter the phrase, "he STOLE my idea!"
It didn't matter that the fan was your typical star trek fanfic writer. It didn't matter that his idea for the story had only two things in common with the story that was aired, which was it had tribbles, and it had the cast of star trek. It didn't matter that paramount had lawers that could have crushed him like a BUG.
They settled out of court, giving him 20k, and had him never speak of that again.
20k in early 1970's dollars is pretty much 2-3 new cars or a whole 1 story house.
And this is why writers and artists do NOT want to see or hear fanfic. Ever.

I've often thought of this to be a great tragedy. Maybe we're all wanting to draw/write/make porn but are too worried about being found out. Well aside from those few real stick up the back side folks that probably hated you anyway.

Dan also obviously care about things like plot and caracterizariam, not just the fappable part, he probably doesn't want to turn the comic into a porn comic, there's actually a lot of downsides with it, like losing advertizing. Hell, most smut animes have plenty of fanservice like this comic, but not porn. It's just the style and as a comic artist myself, I can compreend.
