I was a bit afraid to try re-doing Chara since I know nothing at all about Undertale, but doing a quick google search and looking at the majority of the fan art I understand she's some psychotic child with a knife? Well, I have no idea how the fuck any of what I saw translated into what we have in game, but I feel like her representation in the game is so disastrous that anything I make will probably look better.

I hope some Undertale fan actually sees this and wants to work on her because wow the Chara we have in the game right now looks terrible. I half-assed a lot of things here my main goal was just to make her not look like some puke green skinned reject from clown college, which I think I achieved.

Like I said I hope someone sees this post and wants to work on making her even better, I'd be happy to provide a code if someone wanted it. Or if you want to do something completely on your own too, that's cool. I have a feeling that whatever anyone makes, it's going to look better than what we have now.

Though for what its worth, this is actually pretty decent.

Chara shows up for like... two seconds in the whole of Undertale (they're a main character for events, but they've been dead for possibly decades or hundreds of years), but their canon description basically comes down to 'Smiling, pale rosy-cheeked child (aprox 8 to 12) of indeterminate gender wearing a sweater'. And you've definitely got the outfit right. Heart necklace was a nice touch too.

Honestly, I'm actually mildly surprised that Chara is one of the ones leading the poll; I always thought of her as being extremely ham-fisted, but not as bad as dumpster fires like Shaggy or abominations like whatever the fuck Mettaton turned into. Had a decent ending, too, where the vast majority of characters don't have one at all.

I didn't know anything about Undertale either but awhile back I looked her up and was really confused. In none of the pictures I looked at was her skin green, in none of the pictures I looked at was she fat, actually she was quite skinny in all of them. She didn't have those grandma slippers and ugly ass stockings in any of the pictures I saw.

alright, i think ive managed to improve the face a bit, made the mouth larger and added fangs, seperated the blush, changed the eyes and added lashes and bags like in the ref, played around with the proportions a little (thicker hips and legs, little bit taller)

the horns they have in this game naturally kind of suck, the cat ears look closer to what her horns are supposed to be, but is there a better way maybe?

I've been messing around with the program that's used to create the characters and it's actually good fun to play with. No where near to creating a character for a game though but for personal use it's great.

I haven't been able to save and export what I've created though and I've tried following the guides but it hasn't worked for me.

So I've set the camera icon from 02 to 05, then I've taken the selection and then clicked png but nothing happens afterwards.

That's not how things are saved. Hit the pink tab with the pencil in the bottom right, hit Export. Copy that code and paste it somewhere, whether it be pastebin, etherpad, a txt file, whatever. Now for every pose you make you'll hit that export button again and save that pose.

After you have all of your pose codes written down and saved somewhere, you run a python script that auto generates the images for you based off of those codes. But I wouldn't worry about that step right now. For now just start posing and for every pose you export the code again. The codes hold all the information about what the character looks like, what they're wearing, the position of their arms, legs, etc. so each time you change something it's a new code.

I've lurked the subreddit for a long time. I have seen some really bad looking characters, and the people who make them are always stubborn as fuck and will not let anyone else touch "their character". (even though it's a fucking character it doesn't belong to someone but according to this game's rules once someone claims a character it's basically there's forever and you can't do anything to change it) It's a shame when multiple people will tell the person that their art doesn't look good and needs to be changed and that person will not listen and just wants to do it their own way despite being inexperienced as fuck with the program and refusing to take on any help.

This same exact shit came up just a few weeks ago, not for art but for dialogue for Yang. It took over six fucking people to tell this guy that some of his Yang dialogue sucked and was completely against Yang's character, but until the bitter end this guy refused to change her. Eventually this fucking dude finally caved in after like a month of people telling him to stop being a faggot and change her dialogue, but he was absolutely adamant about not doing it.

It's people like that who really ruin this game. It's why our Chara looks like a fucking piece of shit and despite that anon's remake of her nothing will ever happen because the guy who made her will probably put up a fight if anyone tried to change her. Other characters like Dawn or May look like complete shit but god forbid someone tries to change them and the subreddit would explode into whining.

I think that there's an idea that characters are completely untouchable when their author is still around - and beyond. Improvements are welcome, but changing who someone is at their core is a much weightier thing. I mean, wouldn't it suck to put a lot of effort into a character and have someone replace her art/dialogue wholesale? What if someone wanted to turn Penny into a cock-hungry slut? What if someone wanted Scarlet Witch in casual clothes? However, what if someone wanted to write some additional Yang-to-Blake lines so that her lesbianism was dialed down? No problem. Or, better yet, what if Yang wasn't openly into Blake at all when Ruby was alsoPlaying? Also fine.

I have never liked Chara's images, personally. But a difficulty with her and and May is that their source characters are completely underage. So a perfect representation is never going to be possible in SPNatI. That said, what we have could certainly be more appealing. I will reach out to Chara's artist and seek his blessing for a possible art swap. Why? Because I'm a considerate human being.

The counter feedback to that is people saying she's a parody, or she's written well for being an exhibitionist, or whatever. As long as the criticism is constructive and does not go after an individual, I see no problem in how negative a comment can be. There's a fine difference between "This character is shit, what the fuck were you thinking?" and "This character is shit and here's why". It might be harsh, it might not be pleasant, but it's still feedback and it's still constructive. If the person on the receiving end really felt insulted, then they would acknowledge the criticisms and ask if that person could be nicer next time. Here's the problem with Moons character. I said this in the last few threads, but appearantly I need to say it again.

Moon wants to strip as soon as possible, but the reason she won't strip until she's lost all her accessories... is because some unnamed Producer character has told her she can't expose herself right away.

Who is this producer? Why are they ok with her playing stripping at all, but demand that she follow the rules of the game?
This conflict just raises a bunch of needless distracting questions, and moon spends too much of the game talking about them.

There's nothing quality about all the extra work put into moon. Someone thought of a character idea that didn't quite fit the framework of the game, so they kept adding more and more contrived bullshit to her character until it was moderately functional.

As far as I can gather, the weird skin colour is because they've seemingly remembered Chara having the same skin colour as the main character Frisk (The sprites basically are recolours). The fat of the character is because the sprites for the kids are short and tubby, which translates in to THICC when the character is aged up.

Rework the right body size to be Frisk, so you can still have a chubby yellow skinned girl because people will no doubt be reluctant to change it to the slim redesign because Chara currently has some of the biggest curves in the game and has a spot on the busty table because of it. Frisk gets pie baked for her constantly by her mother figure so it makes some sense she would grow up chubby compared to Chara.

As for all of the other complaints with Yang's dialogue, well I'm not too confident that that will be fixed given the author putting his foot down about how he wants his headcanon of Yang in the game instead of Yang from the show.

Has anyone used the different hip/leg widths and different belly options to make a character with stuffing or weight gain content? There isn't that many options, but you could make an alright approximation of a character eating more or getting fatter as the game goes on.

I don't think characters can have two behavior.xml files at the same time, and they'd both need to be in the same folder to use the same images. This wouldn't make two separate characters. With some extra coding it could probably be done but this game kinda lacks capable coders and the space issue exists right now, so making two Yang's right now wouldn't be a viable solution.

I think seeing a naked girl wearing accessories is not only hot, but with the simplistic Kisekai artstyle, the accessories help keep a character identifiable without their clothing. I would love to, for example, have Raven get naked but keep her cloak on, or have the princess characters naked but keep their jewelry.
Obviously it doesn't make sense for a character to remove clothing before their accessories, but when you decide to write a character as actively wanting to strip, why not change up the strip order for some variety? Twilight Sparkle is actually a fun character because, not understanding the purpose of clothing, she removes her panties and bra first.
