Yep, New Kasuto is just a reference to Zelda II because I needed a random village name (I assume that there would in fact be more than 6.5 towns, and that all other towns would not just be called stables). There's also another Zelda II reference: Link refers to the Gerudo Desert as the "Parapa" or "Tantari." Indeed, I'm working on a longform novelisation of BotW where I changed "Gerudo Desert" to "Parapa," because the Gerudo of Gerudo Desert seems at odds with the Gorons of Eldin, the Zora of Lanayru, and the Rito of Tabantha.
