In the DDL "scene," fileboom is just the latest flavor-of-the-week host which probably:
1. Spread out a good number of cheap/free premium accounts to get content
2. Makes it possible but increasingly inconvenient to download content from the site
3. Is riding on evading copyright for the longest time possible while maximum premium accounts

The same since 4shared, to megaupload, to rapidgator, to filejoker, etc.

MEGA is an exception for now, since they are using several means to attain a revenue flow, one of which the uploading and distribution of content in East Asia. They do not avoid DCMA en masse, as fileboom has to try to avoid. Complete guess here, but I suppose MEGA just obfuscates filesharing with general cloud hosting in such a way that DCMA sharks haven't yet adapted to it, and they have special clout in HK which allows them to circumvent many of these DCMAs regardless.

Private ones, where there are distinct benefits (empornium, for example). Otherwise, it matters not how much you want it, but how much someone wants to upload the game onto a public tracker for no benefit.
