What diaper? Even if it's the same size, a lot of brands have different fittings and shapes and the fitting on your brand may be bothering you. Also, you want it to be snug, not tight, so pulling it straight across as tight as you can will not help you. The proper, but less aesthetically pleasing way to some people, is to tape the bottom tape upwards to give your legs and crotch more room without being restricted by the diaper. Then you tape the top tapes slightly downward to fit around your waist.
