There's not a rule book per say, but as long as you're reasonable and not a dick, I'd say you're okay.

For example, wait a few days before bumping, and when you do, don't go "hey, I've been waiting for days, it's about time someone does this thing for me", but rather go "bumping in case anyone's interested" and leave it at that.

Sadly there are some requests that won't be done, so if yours hasn't been done in a couple of weeks, you can request something else and then go back to that one in a couple of months when there's new people around.

On the other hand if you really really want that edit to be done, you could always ask in the commission thread how much someone would charge you for making that particular edit, and I'm sure they'd be glad to give it a go for a handful of shekels.
