You know there are times when minus8 does something funny/cool for his fans and other stuff. However, he complains about the same stuff everyday to EVERYONE.If you follow his tumblr longer than a year you'll see what i mean(unless he deletes the drama the next few days later). I think minus8 needs to talk about some of his personal stuff to his good friends and i don't mean fans. You're talking about an artist's intuition and passion, which is also how other people recognize the good qualities of a piece of art, even when they don't have much technical training themselves (although observation of the real world is all one needs for poor technique to crumple under the gaze of the otherwise untrained eye.) The problem is, I think it's possible to teach that, but not in the same manner as technique.

It's sort of like the heart and mind dichotomy. It creates issues if you tell someone that there's no way they can learn how to think if they already know how to feel, or vice versa. It completely depends on the individual to open up to this prospect, maybe they weren't even aware, but then they might need guidance, and most people haven't trained that form of observation.

In fact, other than the cultural hang-ups that might be involved, I'd wager this is why -8 thinks that he sucks. If he's trying to refine his intuition and passion, instead of his technique, there probably isn't any teacher out there who'd be easy to find. Although, if he is trying to improve his technique, maybe it doesn't come as easily to him as the intuition and passion do, which could be frustrating.

If you're wondering why I'm trying to avoid the word talent, while I do think some people are more attuned to one end or the other, I feel like it's best to express this as a spectrum. The word talent has a stigma suggesting that it's all inherently born into someone, meaning you either have it or you don't. People without talent would assume all they can do is continue training their technique, creating cold and empty art, when it could be possible to improve that as well, at least somewhat.
