We have more connection with canon characters. In other words, we know more about them and so we can exploit them in different scenarios much more efficiently, where's an oc is a dull doll. There's only as much as the picture can tell, and most of the time, it's not much. Another problem is that most "artists" fail at quality oc design. Take >>1351122 for example. It doesn't even feel wakfu/dofus related. Same is with >>1349564, >>1349565, >>1351427, >>1351431 and many others. It's just random, poorly drawn ocs that somehow ended up with a wakfu/dofus tag.

Things like >>1353279 and >>1343996 is better. It looks like an actual character from wakfu/dofus. But those are rare, and even then, the first problem applies. I do want to see more general non-show charasters (Cras drive me crazy), but man, there's just so little of good oc content.

How can you even make that criteria? Half the races are elf-people and the ones that aren't, are stereotypical sexy assassins, skeletons, or black people with green hair. Not very distinct. And since Ankama publishes different art for the comics, games and TCG card art, there's a lot of different styles used.

Yeah, I full agree with that for the game. The problem is that the series itself tends to be more popular than the game, at least in terms of widespread appeal. If someone knows what you're talking about when you say "Wakfu", odds are that they'll mention the show, first.

Personally I found the game to be incredibly dull, so I don't fault people for not playing or looking into it. Doesn't help that the few ties it really has to the series are pretty pointless (Babby Yugo, Amalia's mom) due to when it takes place.

This might be true, but it's hard to deny that there's a consistent, recognizable style through the company, even with the weird change between S2 and Dofus/OVAs

Anyway, I think the point they're trying to get at is that sometimes with OCs and the lamer spin-off characters, the subject(s) can look way too different from anything directly related to the franchise and might as well be something else and that even Ankama can put out a boring, unremarkable design sometimes. That's what I'm getting out of this, anyway.

Also, Eliatropes are often exempt from this, but anyone outside of the show or that Xbox game might as well be an OC in that case.
