Hi ! If I may, I'd leave my fire genasi girl here again.

She's my character for an ongoing RPG campaign. She used to be the religious symbol of an isolated cult of the flame, confined in a temple as an object of worship. Once an adult she managed to escape, and fled into a party of adventurers for protection. Her powers are closer to the nuturing aspect of the fire than its destructive side, so she's more of a support to the team than an aggressive magic user. Physically she's quite warm to the touch, but not enough to be painful unless she will it or lose control.

Also, she have close to no experience (or serious knowledge) over sexual matters, having been sheltered for most of her life, so she may be persuaded (and/or tricked) into most vanilla things and easily overwhelmed during sex. She would still try to do her best if she like what's happening. Otherwise, an adventurer's life is often harsh and dangerous, so if you would rather have less consensuals things happen to her that's okay too.

I'm new to the /aco/ OC drawthreads how does it work best, do I post a character and a profile?

What if I don't have character art but just references?
What kind of original characters are allowed?
Do you guys bump your requests?

I want to hang and check out the cool art but I don't want to step on any toes on accident.

From what I've gleaned in my short time actively being in these threads, you generally want to post a picture of the OC in question and then say what you want done.

As for whether or not you don't have a piece of the character in question, I'd say piece together an image file with just about all the important details you think you need and go from there.

OCs usually have to do with your own characters, and as the name implies, they have to be original. Not a carbon-copy of another character.

Bumps are usually done once every 24 hours or if a new thread appears to replace the old. Keep bumping in this manner until your request is fulfilled. If a request is done, I assume the general consensus is to fuck off for a few weeks or more and then come back.

Yeah, the one I had in mind was a weird alien girl that would be hard to describe in enough detail. But on the other hand, I have another OC:
A big, strong, thick farm girl with a southern drawl. Looks mostly like the one on the left but her hips aren't that extreme, and she has short brown hair. Boobs anywhere between big and massive. Lots of freckles. Futa optional.

This is definitely a good start, but there's still a lot of lines and creases that make it look kind of masculine. The girl on the right (brown hair) has very good eyes, but the girl on the left has a strange shape and very prominent tear duct with little depth. The teeth are too detailed making it very creepy. Another thing is lining all the way around the mouth looks kind of amateur, next time try just lining the top and bottom of each lip. You could still have the color go all the way around, but for more accuracy, the top lip is usually darker than the bottom

I think I may have found the primary issues with most of your work. It seems that you are still symbol drawing, just at an advanced degree. The eyes look somewhat off because the eyelids are effectively just pasted on symbols of what an eye is, rather than what is actually there(folds, muscles, eye orbit). The lips look wrong as well, since they are also draw on as symbols, and thus look pasted on too. It also seems that you do not have a firm grasp of values and shadows, since you use lines to represent stretches and contractions of the surface of skin, creating what looks like wrinkled and tired skin, or at the other end of the scale, you fail to represent any detail at all in the skin's surface, leading to the entire surface looking decidedly 2-dimensional and boring. These three factors come together to make facial features that look separate and deeply in the uncanny valley. Your figures also look uncanny, since each piece of your anatomy looks fine enough, but are often joined onto stiff and lifeless gestures that have no energy of flow of action. Improving on the facets of your art I've laid out here will allow you to: create faces that look organic and realistic, craft interesting and clearly separate faces and characters, produce visually stimulating gestures and figure poses, and make overall pleasant(especially in the erotic sense) bodies and persons.
In summation, you should work on your gestures, facial anatomy, bodily anatomy, composition, and character designs. From what I can see of your work, you have promise, and I want to see you succeed as a fellow artist and drawfag. If you take the time to study from real life, as well as carefully dissect your favorite works by your favorite artists, I'm certain that you will find a wonderful and vast world of artist potential awaits you. Stay determined and you WILL git gud. Hope this all helps you.

I don't feel like I can :/ I've been drawing my way for ages, as silly as it sounds I feel like all the stuff i've drawn before is wrong now. I'm seeing the things i've done wrong in finished pieces I thought were great now.

But that aside thanks again, maybe i'll be better now.

What I would do, if you want to improve your faces, then what I recommend is stare in the mirror A LOT. Just look at your features, and watch how your eyes move, how your lips join to the face, and I guarantee that you'll find little things that you overlooked yesterday. Also, study anatomy books, so that when you draw, you know that you're just drawing the skin, that there is flesh and bone obscured by the skin you're depicting. That kind of learning helped me immensely. Keep this in mind though, that this kind of work takes a lot of time, and time that's not wasted on doodling, but on very focused and purposeful. When I find my pieces not living up to my expectations, I critically assess each aspect of it to understand what looks wrong, and then identify what I need to study from there. For you, I recommend the aforementioned anatomy and life studies. Its okay if you've stagnated a bit, but whats important is that you break out of that rut, not how long you've been there.
