I think part of it is that a lot of women who have body hair are the types to let themselves go in other places. It's basically considered an obligatory part of basic hygiene in our culture, and those who break from those norms usually do so for lazy reasons or as some kind of feminist declaration (Though I can't actually attest to any numbers on the latter, so that could be purely perception due to media coverage.)

If you can't be bothered to shave, you probably can't be bothered to work out, eat right, etc. Hence you wind up with a lot of uglies with body hair, and it's essentially tainted by association.

On top of that lot of older women stop bothering to shave after a certain age, and when you've got 99% of the female population shaving during their most fertile years that creates another very clear association that body hair means old age and infertility.

A 10/10 female would remain attractive to a lot of people regardless of the amount of body hair, even including leg hair (But likely excluding facial hair, which is probably a bridge too far for most since it's not really a typical place for hair to grow in any significant amount for a female to begin with.) Whereas a lot of the women you see with body hair would still be ugly whether they shaved or not. Often but not always owing in part to other unaddressed factors, like weight.

I suspect that hairlessness is also associated with innocence, since pubic hair shows up at puberty. In the US, pubic hair was celebrated, until the 80's. like a lot of porn culture, it lost popular favor with the rise of the religious Conservatives. hairlessness is also popular in places that are extremely anti-feminist: Middle Eastern Islamic countries.

Except for this part. They had nothing to do with it. They don't want to influence the type of content, they want all porn flat out banned.

What happened is that over time porn changed the culture once they started making the actors shave. The idea that Christian types had any influence on content (Beyond keeping the most extreme stuff illegal) and more specifically, pubic hair, is rather silly.
