While I like it, the Arm Bands are way too huge(looks like Mega Man Cannons) I don't think she can realistically move well or do certain poses, hence why the dialogue portrait pictures have less variety than Pirates Curse.

I'm not saying the games has to be pixel, but the pixels in PC were really detailed and art direction in general seemed better and lewder.

Maybe they should go back to anime style.

While it may be overly cartoony, they sure could have made it so that she looks more closely to the Pirate Curse arts.

I'm not complaining, it's a very cute and new approach but it's just a shame is all. A lost opportunity so to speak. But I sure as hell do love the in-game arts. Sprites are good and all but could you just imagine if Pirate curse had the in-game with animated characters instead of sprites? I don't think anyone would get past the first level without jerking it.

shantae´s design is still a work-in-process, if you look closely you can spot some minor differences between pirates curse and 1/2 genie hero (f.e. they removed the gem on her tiara). They seem to have invited a lot of artists to get a new view on the characters, this picture seems to be made by Endling (who also happens to work for Wayforward since 2014, there´s also some concept art of him in the "1/2 genie hero"-gallery.9).

But yeah, the artstyle of pirates curse was really cute, that inspired me to create picture related a couple of months ago. That tentacle monster is an enemy which ONLY appears in "Abandoned factory" in ONE screen. It´s really easy to defeat so nobody ever gets caught by it, but let me tell you: let yourself get caught by it. It´s not an easter egg or anything, but the animation is very, VERY suggestive.
