Nope. Nipples and funparts were always covered. The Purgatori comics got really risque, just flirting with nudity, but the most they would show was a bare ass. When I was a kid though, that was more than enough.

Very few of the big names in comics. Nude covers were mostly done by smaller companies looking to get any kind of sales boost they could get. Avatar Press were probably the biggest name, since a lot of what they put out had multiple covers, with at least a few of them being nude variants. Nowadays, they're mostly legit, putting out well-regarded comics like Uber and work by guys like Warren Ellis, but their Boundless imprint still exists, releasing work on their old properties like Webwitch and Hellina. The main difference now, is that the content is more explicit - before, you'd maybe see some bush, but now there's usually some pretty graphic fucking in there.

All the Boundless comics (Avatar Press imprint) are like that. Nudity, explicit sex, etc.

All Chaos characters got sold in bankruptcy, Dynamite has rights or was publishing stuff through license. Except Lady Death as Pulido pulled that character out of the rights before they were auctioned off. Some say this was illegal. Anyway, he has been putting out new Lady Death comics but they're at best okay, mostly terrible, but he's been doing nude cover variants that cost a ton more.
