at some point in the past I really enjoyed sparrow's stuff, and I feel the need to note that I mean that in a sexual manner. It's worth noting that in particular because I still enjoy his art, but can't really imagine getting off to it. Without even going into his hyper distention shit, it seems almost like he went from pornography to surreal explicit comics. I give this recent example, because really, I'm more inclined to just ponder this and giggle. Its somewhere between how I imagine cheesy nonsensical porn would look in a universe that's already itself a cheesy nonsense porno and a disconnected scene from some inverse-morality play. This isn't to say his older stuff is any more realistic, but I can get hard looking at it instead of being stuck in trying to interpret how the elements of the picture cohere into a narrative.

That's EXACTLY how i feel about Sparrow's recent art. While it's always had levels of absurdity mixed in with its sexual stimulation, lately it's been so absurd and difficult to register as a realistic (within the confines of the realm of hentai and porn in general) that it's near impossible to get any legitimate level of arousal from it. It turned from porn pictures that were funny, to funny pictures that were pornographic.
