It’s that time of year folks! Could really use some extra cash for the coming Christmas expenses, so here’s the temporary new rates for the month of December:

Sketch-$5

I’m still available for comics, though their prices will vary depending on what you wish for, though a rule of thumb would be each panel the equivalent of a separate image (so in this case a 4 panel line comic would cost $40, assuming each panel is totally different).

I’m open for most things in terms of content, though certain things like scat, watersports, gore, rape etc would force me to add an extra fee to stomach through it. Check out my previous work to get an idea for what I’m comfortable with.

So I'm looking to commission rather than to be commissioned!

There is all this talk of "I'll do anything" but what I'm looking for isn't as simple as just outfit changing or slapping a dick on as the character needs to be built differently from the ground up! That and I've yet to come across any evidence of it from those who claim they'll do it. What I'd recommend is doing a pwyw sketch with me, then you're not really losing anything if you see what I mean. If it's bad then pay low.

A while back an artist who said they didn't do lewd before was opening up their commissions to lewd art by posting about it in this thread. Had to be 5-10 threads ago. They were called "thebluefury" and I along with numerous others reached out because they were doing deals for their inaugural lewd commissions. Took my commission, half my payment, delivered a WIP that looks pretty great, and now I haven't heard from them in 2 months, not responding to any of my emails and haven't posted in forever. Anybody else who commissioned them have a similar experience? I'm not usually one to name and shame but yeah, dudes got my money and went radio silent.

Short of gitting gud, your best bet if you want commissions is to find a niche (read: fetish, preferably one you like) that other, better artists stick up their noses at and latch on to it like a lamprey.

Question for artists:
Do you ever get burnt out on customers?
Like, say someone requests some specific fetish thing and you do it, get paid, have a giggle. But then they come back and they have another thing they want you to do, same fetish, different character or situation. And they like that too and keep coming back again and again and then they want a comic and can you draw these same two characters again with this same fetish thing but in a new pose?

Do you ever get to a point where despite getting paid you just want to stop drawing their absurd thing you can't really take seriously over and over for what's increasingly becoming an actual job, but they're still willing to pay you to do it seemingly without end?

In my opinion, if I don't get too many commissions, then yeah I gotta do it. It's a job and if the person is paying then you gotta. Unless it's making you uncomfortable of course. But if you get a lot of commissions and this person got a lot from you, I would assume the best course of action would be to simply tell them you're too busy with other commissions, and you gotta catch up with them. It's not lying per say but it's more or less "prioritizing" others.

I work in totally different mediums.

I find that I run through any Medium after a bit (read up on Picasso's 'periods') and can no longer do what I want to be known for. I still have an unfinished wall sculpture from years ago that I 'burned out' on about half way through. It was supposed to go opposite a previous one for a customer who expressed serious interest, but I just ran out of me to put in it. She still wants it and will happily pay solid 5 figures, but she would expect the same style and raw-ness of the first. It would take several months of work to finish and be a big payday, but it hurts to even look at it, lacking the will to finish. I have to keep a sheet over it. (8'x6').

It is best to commission sets in the way you speak of. That way there is a 'feel' to the whole. Especially if meant to be seen together. I did the core cast for SW in bronze (busts) an age back and never did get them right, but they are a prized possession of the customer, far from 'perfect' but more 'evocative' of the cast. As a set, they work. Were I to go back and add another character, it would simply not fit.

You either have a good following and you can charge whatever you want.
Or you're relatively unknown and won't get many commissions if your prices are too high.

Your prices are good for /aco/, as you'll fit the budget for a lot of people here, and you'll likely consistently get commissions.

If you want my advice though, your style is basically R4/Doxy, I'd head right over to tumblr, draw Peach or Korra and rake in those tumblr likes. Before you know it you'll have 30,000 followers and you can charge 60 bucks or something per commission.

As a non-artist, I like going back to artists for pieces with the same OCs and/or themes because the artist now has more experience with the fetish itself and understanding what you want when you ask for changes

For example, there's this artist I went for some beast stuff and I was their first client for horse stuff (they had previously draw pokephilia)

The first pic was pretty decent, though the anatomy on the horse itself wasn't stellar and my OCs weren't completely on model (one skinny girl and one muscular girl ended up not that different in the final pic)

I got four pics from them across a year or so and the difference from the first to the last one is just gigantic

I got a little practice with the tricky bits like weight, flattening under something's own weight, and the way hands sink into flesh.. maaainly because of some fanart commissions with some of adventure time's cushier chubbers.. though I don't have any really good examples to show (this three-year-old one isn't a very good representation of my current skill.. it DOES happen to be the first commission I ever did, though I didn't get paid)

Question for artists. If your client wanted a simple variation/edit added to the original commission i.e minor variations (ex: facial variations, recolors, small ornamental details, additional cum beyond a normal cumshot etc) or major variations (ex: nude/clothed versions, limb pose variations).
Do you charge them with the same full price as the original commission? Or do you charge them for like %10 of the base price?

it really depends. small enough details they get for free, extra cum and whatnot would be like a few bucks more (and I wouldn't phrase it that way, I'd tell them "I'll give you both versions of that for X dollars"), changing clothing or pose is pretty much a whole new drawing so it'd be another at least 70% as much as the original cost.. again I'd make that a lump fee unless they came in AFTERWARDS which I guess is what you're asking. I've never known anyone to do that. If they did I'd treat it more like a modification commission (something I get every so often. "can you give me a version of (thing you did already) with (change)" and I give them a low price on that since it's a lot easier than a new piece..

Here's some stuff that commonly comes up in my experience.

>what kind of facial expressions should they have/how do they feel about what's happening
>if you don't want them on-model, what kind of body type should they have
>should they be wearing clothes? If yes, then what type? (reference images are a plus)
