I think there could have been a nice balance between the two, but the commission-based directing took its toll in regards to focus and development.

Case-and-point, Leaf's Intro Comic and Princess's Side Stories usually stick out because of how the comics hit the right spots: Their lives and capabilities.

I actually quite like drawing that kind of stuff. The whole "same pose - different angle/situation" thing forces you to be consistent, which is something I've always had trouble with, so it's good practice.
It's a bit rapey for Vanilla Cookies, but it would be fine for commissions.

There's little chance of it happening - I'm presently a broke bastard - but I want to commission Dave to do a short "Post-Decommissioning" comic about Princess and Bikini after the AC is closed down. Something where they talk about how damn lucky they were that the threats the Corps was created to fight kind of imploded, how if they - or any of the operatives - had ever been put into the field, they could have bit it quickly. Bikini makes the obligatory "I've imagined death so much it feels more like a memory" quote. The two get a little quieter when they start talking about what's to come. They both have top secret clearance, and a handful of job offers... they bounce them off each other, snarking/mumbling about how awful the selection is - visibly getting gloomier - until Sammie mentions one at the bottom of her list. A training gig for civilian security contractors. Merc school, in short. Bikini's been made the same offer. She asks Sammie to take the job - with her. Because if nothing else... if nothing else, she'd like to stay with her.

Obligatory "I'm not gay" "Well neither am I but this feels awesome and I like you" lesbian sex follows.

It WAS a common theme until about two or three years ago, when the guro-themed commission-based Angels Corps series ended.

Since then, the artist has been working on and publishing more vanilla sex stuff. Check vanilla-cookies at Tumblr for more of that stuff, or his patreon should you choose to support him.

Okay, time for the been-done rant
>Angel Corps gets remade as if the title was more literal and the girls got cloned and augmented every time they died so they became better agents subconsciously while scrubbing the context, memories, and secret data they knew
>all the deaths are canon, Princess's fight where she won was a result of the work
>those that only had one death just didn't take to the reupload procedure well and were retired (read:deleted) and Princess has been in so many of these because for whatever reason her personal mental makeup allows her to survive the procedure far longer than her counterparts (basically she's into this guro shit on a subconscious level and she doesn't realize it)
>she slowly discovers that she and her friends are part of this program by not getting scrubbed properly and remembers everything in her reuploads
>she finds what's been done with her body in past 'operations', and a 'break room' where clone bodies of her dead friends that failed the reupload are used as playthings and organ banks by the staff (since they have no other use for the bodies now that the original personality died)
>she keeps looking for a way out, and also because she finds the whole thing personally exciting
>Princess finds out she was such a success, her physical blueprint has been given unlimited funds and so all the scientists have pet Princesses they use and abuse to their content, including dozens of mentally scrubbed clones that feel pleasure from pain and have a massive death orgy with one of the scientists

It's more that Angel Corps feels too quickly shuttered because there was never really a cohesive part of the story. Giving the thing a proper story and sort of conclusion would have both made the guro more fun to read about, and felt like a better point of withdrawl for teh-dave to me. I mean, he's under no obligation to do so, but guro's a niche fetish as it is, and to have a great artist just leave because of money issues was terribly unfortunate.

I just like to imagine a more perfect world where a good artist left a good story before he went to normie porn, instead of a disconnected anthology of guro-y scenarios, that have all the set-up for a specific canon, but can't.
