A few threads ago the topic was about OC vs fanart.. I'm not sure how I'd feel if anyone wanted lewd art of MY OCs.. probably flattered? Most of the time they want their own, which is kinda fun.. but it has its own challenges, as they have specific needs for those. Fanart, at least you have a lotta references.. but then adapting a style can be tough. I think my favorite thing to do is making up a new character FOR the commission.

It's not a huge loss but I don't like being cheated.

As someone who's been doing a lot of commissioning lately (thanks, /aco/!), I've dealt with all sorts of different variants, upfront payment, after delivery payment, half-then half-later payment, direct payment vs. invoices...can't say I really have much of a preference for any, though I seem to deal the most with "get sketch, receive payment, finish work."

As of the few times I get writing commissions for myself to do, I just give steady progress reports until the finished product, and charge after showing it off.

I think I was just excited by my first one. And it's not like they were a lot of effort, but I DID have to redo two of the poses, and it's not stuff I'm terribly proud of or enjoyed either, so.. bleh

After all these commissions I've started asking for, you would think it would have occurred to me sooner that this would be a prime opportunity to try and find a way to bring an old pipe dream into reality: making a world of monster-girls out of the Mario universe. Would need to find those who can draw a wide variety of body types and work with me and the profiles made in order to bring the designs to life, though.

I had a writer run off with a $100 dealio before. Things were good on the first commission and he came up with an offer we thought we're both good. Paid up front.

Things weren't coming in after awhile, excuses came up, and so on. Finally confronted him about it and he accused me of stressing him out and decided to drop it altogether while keeping the money, plus drama postings.

I know writings take longer, but going a month and later months without an update is ridiculous. A huge red-flag with writers and lesser extent artists to me is if they say they don't want to be bothered AND don't promise a due date.

Here's a tip with big commissions. Have an agreement of some sort of sign of progress WITHIN the paypal's resolution period. If you have to section it off, than do it. But do not straight up do a massive payment and hope his/her promise to get it done and two months holds.

As someone who's commissioned a ton of futa stuff from various artists, I'm a bit confused. There's much more generic popular characters drawn with big tits/ass that aren't futa. A simple check over at HF or rule34 will confirm that. Hell, if I was just into vanilla stuff I'd probably never commission anything.

Futa popularity in commissions stem from the simple fact that not many are doing it outside of commissions to begin with- atleast not anywhere near the amount of non-futa stuff, and certainly not as much with 'popular' characters.
