With Togashi on hiatus again, I think Shudan's survival is pretty likely now. Hunter empties out a space and spares one cancellation

Jump has 2 series that on average perform worse than it. And they don't usually cancel more than 3 at a time.

It's their routine. The do this every 2-3 months.
Besides, they have 3 flops at the moment. 4 if you count Spring Weapon. They should clean house.
>>
>>162206205
Haikyuu was ranking poorly prior to Robot, though. Not sure why Japan hasn't been enjoying this arc. I think it's really good.
>>
>>162206230
Bokuben isn't too far from the axe right now either.
>>
>>162206087

Explain how you not liking a mascot character is comparable to making it so that no one will ever take a character death seriously again.
>>
>>162206219
Will happen. Probably after Golden Future Cup, running those one-shots every week essentially filled up the spot Hunter left.

But it's a temporary stopgap, so once that finishes, they need a new series, probably several of them. Which then is time to open up some other slots in the magazine.
>>
>>162206268
It averages a little beneath 6th place. And it graduated from the 50k club in its second volume. So both sales and rankings are good to decent

>>
>>162206268
Jump's standards are very low right now.
Hinomaru just got a part 2, and its sales and rankings are worse than Bokuben's.
So I'm not worried.
>>
>>162206357
That's what we said about Samon. These lucky bastards always crap out sometime

Or they become Hinomaru
>>
>>162206259
Generally speaking the current arc is disjointed and its presentation is a mess. None of the opponents are very interesting.

It's still a merchandise monster though.
>>
>>162206374
That's part of the japanese government's plan. They force Shueisha to keep Zumo so that sumo can become popular again and they can get more japanese Yokozunas who will BTFO all the mongolian ones.
>>
>>162206374
>>162206406
I think you guys are missing one important detail about Zumou, it's a sumo manga. Knowing how nationalistic Japan is, the editors probably take pride that they're running a sumo manga even in the face of complete disinterest from their readers. Plus it's run for so long now, that any anime would have a huge amount of content to adapt already.
>>
>>162206433
>complete disinterest from their readers
It ranks okay, the real problem is that its volumes can't sell, it hit the ceiling of 50k per volume 3 years ago and it hasn't grown at all since.

I don't know man, what other series do you think are more popular at the moment and should take those spots? OP wasn't ranked, BnH is understandably low, as those chapters weren't very liked, Gintama is doing Gintama things, Soma has been shit this arc... I don't know what's going on in Haikyuu, but I assume there is also a reason it's so low. And another two big shots in HxH and World Trigger are on hiatus...
So yeah, tell me who it is you think is actually currently more popular than those series you seem to dislike so much.
>>
>>162208152

If you see nothing wrong with Haikyuu, the second most popular manga in the magazine being ine the bottom 5 over a shitty new series like Dr. Stone you're a fucking idiot. No it does not deserve to be in the top two given how shit the chapters being ranked are, hell the Neverland chapter had virtually nothing happening but I guess TOC or right or wrong depending if you like the series or not right?

Because they don't get all this publicity.

Shit, Neverland even became a joke at first, because its initial print was 120k, but only sold 50k in the first week. And then Jump started to push and voilá!

Even AssClass and Academia didn't get so many color pages in the beginning. And these titles sold out their first copies.

Actually it was only a small mention and not a real special. That guy is overexaggerating. Dr. Stone got a small shout out too in the same episode. They were just standing in a book shop and were like: "I like this manga and this one too.." I don't believe that this had such a big success as this guy makes it out to be.
Kingdom got real special with a whole episode dedicated to Kingdom. That's what really boosts sales.

Why would it matter? You're saying they advertised it for no reason when it pulled in 50k with it's first volume selling more than like 5+ manga that were running in the magazine at that time and overall having one of the best first volume sells in that year.
>>
WHEN did sammon the summoner end/get cancelled?
>>
>>162210632
It's not about not selling well. 50k is a good number, but their pretensions were much higher (120k). So they increased the publicity.

Hinomaru Zumou started having great positions. In fact, it was one of the rare cases where the first chapter debuted in the first position. But the maximum publicity it got was an omake crossover with Kurobas after 2 years.
>>
One of the biggest advertising that Neverland got was being nominated for the Manga Taisho Awards then being featured on Ame Talk

>>
>>162210834

I guess it was to be expected. I liked the art, but the plot and it's mechanics needed work. It wasn't gonna last long. The dialogue felt completely bland and dry, even copy pasted. It didn't feel original or organic; kind of passive and shallow and unoriginal.

I even sent a survey in jump about how I felt about it and suggestions to improve in scores and more crazier to enjoy reading; since it did come off pretty bland and the main character wasn't the most popular character in their own series, let alone hate and bully on a girl cuz she's nice. I don't think that would send good messages to people where the main character is a villain made to be used as a anti hero saving the day tool and pull the "oh you have a heart" card on them.

The entire series was set to crash with limits and cheesy cliche stereotypes like that. I was kind of hoping and expecting better really. Not something gay.
>>
>muh pushing and ads
This is normal for any series that has potential.
All this shitflinging about pushing only started with Toriko since op and dbfags were assblasted by it.

I don't think they have been written out, but so far, the story isn't the slightest interested in showing how they're doing, and apart from that mention, Senku doesn't seem to think about or miss them much.

I can't help but getting the feeling Taijuu and Yuzuhira were an afterthought the writer didn't like much, but had to put there because they were more similar to the typical MC/girl duo in shonen stories, and once he had the opportunity, removed them without looking back.

>>
>>162214286

>>
>>162214766
My friend, understand one thing: just because CPs are not ranked, it does not mean that its position does not matter. WSJ is an extremely cheap magazine with 500 pages. Not everyone has the patience to read everything at once. Sometimes they do not even read it all. That's why stand in front is so important. And MHA always stood in front, even when it got color pages. So, I'm not saying it's weird it did not get above Kochikame, but that's weird it got below the top 10. In the old days the ranking would look like this:
#42:
One Piece (Cover & Lead Color Page)
Yakusoku no Neverland
Dr. Stone
Robot X Laserbeam
Kochikame (Color Page, Special Chapter)
Black Clover
Kimetsu no Yaiba
Boku no Hero Academia (Color Page)
Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai
PSI Kusuo Saiki
Hinomaru Zumou
Raven Burai (Color Page, Oneshot, GFC #3)
Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san
Shokugeki no Souma
Spring Weapon No.1
Haikyuu!!
Gintama
Shoodan!
Harapeko no Marie
Cross Account
Isobe Isobee Monogatari

Hunter x Hunter (Hiatus)

Geez, no one is talking about the "weekly competition", "rank wars", but about the level of importance of the series. it does not matter if the CP is neutral, if the title is important it will be placed near the top and not near the bottom.
>No it didn't.
The last time it received a CP:

Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (Lead CP, 1st Anniversary)
The Promised Neverland
One Piece
Boruto (Cover, CP)
Kimetsu no Yaiba
My Hero Academia (CP)
Robot x Laserbeam
Black Clover
Shokugeki no Soma
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K

See the gap between Boruto and MHA? Both were relevant, both are at the top, despite the CPs being neutral in the rankings.

>>162212289

You do realize that the oneshot is ahead of MHA not because of importance, but because of the Golden Future Cup right? Boruto's CP last week was SECOND TO LAST in the magazine, only in front of Isobee, and no one thought that it was going anywhere, so why does the location of MHA's color page matter now?
MHA isn't going anywhere, and arguing its importance based on the location of its color page means jack shit when you realize that color page location is not based on importance, nor will it ever be.

although I do not agree with the other anon, he is not lying about bnha, usually its color pages get a little higher, but the fact that the color page of boruto has been put underneath, something that also never happened, is another one proof that the current rankings are being manipulated.

the second season was extremely superior. more episodes, more characters, more adapted chapters, more fights, more fanarts, more tv ratings (fuck you, nichigo block), more popularity. even got more boost, which is rare with sequences.

It's funny how people continue to use the current arcs of Haikyuu and MHA as the reason for their low positions. Dear friends, the arcs have not started now. They have been going on for a while, and their positions up until then were very good, but then suddenly they fall, and suddenly RxL, Dr. Stone and TPN become the top three.

Don't get me wrong, I like all these series (except for RxL), but it's pretty obvious what the editors are doing.
>>
>>162225696
Yup. Pretty obvious, the editors are giving more exposure to better series both as a way to earn more in the future for Jump and to secure consequences of the inevitable decline of bnha and haikyuu.

I miss WT
>>
>>162240761
It's dead anon. It's time to give up.
>>
>>162240761
It'll be back, on the week after its one year hiatus anniversary passes.
>>
>>162240761
So do I, I'd be happy even just seeing the next match for Osamu's suicide plan.
>>
>>162210738
Is there any better example of a mangaka too good for this world? Sometimes I really wonder what his feelings are toward Shueisha editorial. Like they publish his amazing but also cancel him for controversy and shit. I'm surprised he came back.
>>

Jump comes out on Monday, but text leaks appear on Wednesday, and pictures on Thursday.
>>
>>162241495
And those leaks come from actual physical copies because it's physically published before it's on-sale date obviously, so the leaks come from people who get their hands on copies not actual insiders who know anything...and technically, the on-sale version comes out on Sunday for North America but Monday for Japan due to the international date-line

Who carea about America
>>
>>162240565
Does this mean they can stop shilling BBC Clover?
>>
>>162238515
And the BC shilling will stop now.

If anyone, probably no one, was aking why Robo is so popular and why Jump is pushing the shit out of it.
>>
>>162243142
These are just Side characters though, do people even care about them?

What about Robo himself?
>>
>>162220069
Robo shirtless when?

What did Oda mean by this?
>>

Is that from KnB author? I'm really disappointed in him.
>>
>>162240761
Same desu. I wish Ashihara would come back to life and finish this shit.
>>
WT is dead
We now have Yakusoku no Neverland and Dr. Stone to replace it
>>
>>162243462
>Cyborg Ashihara returns after 20 years of hiatus to finish WT
>>
>WT went on eternal hiatus after Niggastream scanlated one (1) chapter

What does it all mean
>>
>>162205660
Why is Isobe Isobee Monogatari always out from this rankings? Does it have a guaranteed spot regardless?
>>
>>162243249
I wonder if he has genuine autism
>>
>>162243795
I actually enjoyed his autism, if only he was in a better manga
>>
>>162243249
That's boring as fuck, you can't see his face nor his chest.
>>
>>162243618
Yes they do that with comedies sometimes
>>
>>162238515
TPN v2 was 3 days. Stone 2 was 6.
>>
Someone apparently started translating Kochikame
>>
>>162244012

Holy shit, Dr Stoners BTFO
>>
I wonder why Jump is pushing neverland and stone so hard. All this marketing. Did Jump already gave up on Hero Academia?
>>
>>162244012
>>162244285
Samefag
>>
>>162244305
Hero established a loyal fanbase who buys the volumes. It doesn't need any more pushing. Plus less color and cover pages means less stress for Hori.
>>
>>162244305
Cause they want money
>>
>>162244305
If had to guess bnha is doing well.enough on their own and they want other big series other than OP, BNHA, HQ and BC(?).
>>
>>162244305
Since when Bnha get a massive push like what's happening on TPN and Dr. Stop?
>>
>>162244305
They are looking for new Naruto. Shit Academia wasn't it, so they put all their focus on those two now. Which is good because
Dr. Stone >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shit Academia
>>
>>162205927
But he literally did that with Sabo to make an Ace 2.0
>>
>>162244305
>Did Jump already gave up on Hero Academia?
You would too if you read it
>>
This is pretty inteesting to read. Breaks some misconceptions about Jump.

https://twitter.com/kiirobon/status/907564859759493120
>>
>>162245673
Not trying to be an asshole but what misconceptions does it break? Reading through what he translated I found literally no new information like even the timing for covers and more precise stuff was already known before.
Maybe I just missed some tweets that's totally possible. If so, sorry about that but would you mind exemplifying some of what you found interesting?
>>
>>162245673
So stone and neverland have very good digital sales and popularity and that's why they are trusting the top TOC spaces.
Some anon feathers are going to be ruffled.
>>
>>162245673
>But as I was saying, they actually determine TOC order by looking at digital sales, age of (male) readers and such.
Sales of what? When a manga is ranked at it's 8th chapter, the first volume isn't even out yet.

>Haikyuu has higher sales than Stone and TPN combined
>its in the bottom 5
This along with Shuiesha being caught using bots to increase Dr. Stone's PV viewcount shows that we shouldn't be taking the TOC seriously anymore.
>>
>>162246606
Haikyuu is in the middle of a pretty bad arc and the voting fujos are moving towards the incredibly terrible golf series.
>>
>>162205662
>monster trio
>>
>>162246654
The arc isn't bad and jumping to a even worse series doesn't make much sense.
>>
>>162245673
>authors are told one month in advance that their series is going to be axed
>authors are given enough time to wrap up the ending
>>
>>162246872
that sounds so wrong. I can not believe Tamura made such ending for Beelzebub then.
>>
>One Piece finally falling off the pedestal.
Maybe it can end will dignity.
>>
>>162245845
That doesn't mean anything, every series has digital sales these days.
Bokuben's digital release was pushed up by months due to it's success unlike those 2.
>>
>>162246872
>one month in advance
really interesting to see that some series only lasted long enough to get one volume out
did they just call the mangaka like:
>Yeah, we hired you and all that and it's only been two chapters but we need to fire you
