Comedy, action, adventure... hell, it's one of the biggest tropes in almost every sitcom ever made, to the point that it's practically considered the death of a show if the characters involved ever actually make their relationship concrete.

It's just an overused trope in general no matter where you are, but it works, so it's not going away anytime soon.
