If you are at least half-competent artist who finished some art school or at least learned the same amount of drawing techniques that doesn't even involve digital drawing then you are pretty much ready to draw any anime shit already because of how simplistic it is.

I mean, sure you could grow bigger and put more and more details and draw all the great stuff on characters that separates a pro from a deviant-art entry level scrub but drawing anime faces and anime characters is really that fucking simple.
Drawing backgrounds and modelling stuff is actually harder.

This is entirely why I took that art survey class.

This painting by Leonardo Da Vinci was a commission to some rich hoe. During the time the awkward smug look was considered in fashion. Da Vinci was an older guy by this time in his life and has acquired knowledge on layering paints at such a level to make the background give a smokey look which brings intrigue. After literal years the women commissioning him and doing the pose wanted the picture. He told her to fuck off it was his now. He moved to France with it and continued working on it until he died of old age.

It's famous because French still idolize Da Vinci and happened to claim his paintings after he died, so they showed it off like it was the holy grail. and Hollywood for going gaga over the French in the mid 90's

The chin is too sharp and short (reminds me of yugioh), the eyes are big, but not really anime-like, and her hair looks like she's been fighting with somebody and has been rolling on the ground in a dusty place And the nose is western, just like most of the art.

I don't care much about how "artistic" the Mona Lisa is thought of but what works of art are considered good from an artists' point of view? I've been to tons of art museums and portraits make up a lot of paintings in art galleries and there's tons and tons that seem really similar to the Mona Lisa that are hung up everywhere so they have to have some artistic value to the people curating these museums. I myself don't really know what separates a good portrait from a bad one.

If you're arguing with people about this kind of stuff it'll be brought up again and again how detail in itself isn't the sole thing that makes art good. Though having lots of detail does intrigue me. Pic related is a painting I really like just because of how much detail is put into it. It kind of has that uncanny valley feel to it too because of that.

But yeah, it gets hard to separate when people know what they're talking about and when they're just contrarian because they're talking about something popular. Though similar things apply to art critics that may form their opinion just to be different so it's a thin line. I thought it was interesting though, and I didn't know it before this thread, that the Mona Lisa's modern day reputation only really started in the early 1900s.
