It's memorable. It does a lot of things right that on a surface level might not seem obvious to you at first. In short, it could be a lot better, but all anime could use a competent director. The cruel joke of it is simply that it's better than average. There's nothing quite like it. It does what it does better than many of the other anime that try to do this thing.

I haven't read/watched Boku no Hero but Fullmetal Alchemist is shit. Jojo is great though but I'm pretty sure that Jojolion isn't a battle manga.

HXH and Fullmetal Alchemist aren't "recent" either. Jojo's been going for 30 years too and even its most recent part is over half a decade old since it started.
