I was not impressed with season two and that's coming from someone that really likes season one. In fact I still haven't watched the third cour for season two but I doubt it goes anywhere based on the rest of season two I did watch.

That's a shame, I recall being excited as hell for season 2 and watching the first episode and then completely forgetting about it.

I'll skip the rest of the series then, but I guess it's to be expected in a sequel that came out so late.

I wouldn't really blame it on that. They created a whole new studio to do sequels for Natsume and Durarara since Brain's Base just wasn't going to do it anymore. I think the weakness in the source material could be part of it but it also could be execution because I remember those that read the light novels really hyping up parts like the motorcycle gangs in the then current threads. All around it was a let down for me. I mean it's not horrifically bad but maybe I went into it with higher expectations than I should have.

the first half of season 1 was good, the second half got bogged down in "muh high school gang wars" shit instead of focusing on what people actually liked. season 2 was ok at times, but it's main focus was on the "muh HS gang war" which prevented it from ever becoming all that memorable.

It has a massive, fully developed cast, and it's very good at weaving seemingly-standalone plotlines together, as well as switching perspective on events. Watching everything come together is really satisfying and interesting.

I never watched S2 though.
