as I said "in comparison" he's still a humble unstoppable commander (even saying that he can outright predict the moves of all enemies). But being a novel and that Dusty doesn't appear until after the Coup arc we hear more of his inner monologues on how much he hates being in the military. They also emphasize more his alcoholism and his fumbles as the father of Julian.
