How did anything the show did not perfect capture the tone of the show, which was "fuck you and fuck your expectations?" In any other fighting show, the reveal that the entire forest was trapped in episode 3 would have pitted the main character against impossible odds and he'd have overcome anyway. Instead of that standard shit Shichika simply said "this is retarded" and left the forest, giving himself the advantage. It's not a flashy solution, it's a pragmatic one, and if that lets you down then you get your anime flashy fights in episodes 7, 11 and 12.

I think you're just so bored and off-put by the content you weren't expecting, that you're missing the qualities Katanagatari actually does excel at.
Just drop it, it clearly isn't your cup of tea. If you aren't enjoying the character interactions and banter delivered through long dialogue scenes then that's the end of it.
The dialogues for episode 1 were too dense for me to enjoy the first time I watched it, but somewhere along episode 2 I acclimated to it, and Katanagatari now sits as one of my favourite anime. Since you're already past episode 3, I seriously doubt you'll find a sudden turnaround point that lets you enjoy the show more.
