The main problem is that they strayed so far from the usual with the last 2 shows.
They should go back to the basic Digimon formula of "group of friends meet Digimon, get thrown in a new rendition of the Digiworld and stuff threatening every living thing ever happens" instead of new gimmicks like Appli and Xros that barely have anything to do with the core concept of Evolution the first bunch of seasons had.
Frontier still worked well because they interacted with Digimon, those Digimon had Digimon issues and it was still adventuring in the Digiworld. Not to mention that the characters were likable for the most part.

It isn't offensively gad like some of the worst show, but like some other anon said it is 80% motw 20% plot.
It is also going for an even younger demographic than usual so it never gets really serious like the other show.
It would have been better if it was 2 or 3 cour in my opinion.

I guess I will. Although i am having flashbacks to Xros Wars Hunters and how awful it was. The only redeeming part was when all the protagonists showed up towards the end of the episode, and when they revealed that the Clocksmith that was helping the cast was actually the bad guy from the first seasons.

Yeah, that's because you listened to it once after years of listening only to the other version. There's a reason Wada Kouji was basically the exclusive OP provider for multiple shows in the series in Japan. I watched 01 and 02 dub first but after that, found subs and Wada Kouji has a solid place in my heart for nostalgia.
