If there's anything I've absolutely hated in Super so far, its that the end of the Black Saga was the perfect chance to keep Future Trunks in the main timeline and they didn't pull the trigger.

His world is fucking destroyed. The copy world already has a pre-existing version of himself there to protect it. There's nothing for him or Mai there. He had no reason to go back. None. But they couldn't just let him stay in the main timeline and be happy. They had to send him away for absolutely no reason.

Its bullshit.
