No it isn't.. It's literally Edward's alchemist title. They gave it to him because even though he survived his ordeal he kinda didn't- he's been forever changed by his actions and his new limbs are both constant reminders of his mistakes, and artifacts he absolutely needs to pursue his ambitions in his new life as an alchemist.
