I loved. As someone who isn't a big fan of Japanese culture, the aesthetic of Gintama really didn't suit my taste. That, coupled with the hundreds of episodes, made getting into that really hard for me. Then came SKET Dance, which was Gintama in modern times with simpler setting and more relatable character. The comedy might not be as good, but SKET Dance is better in its own way, and will always hold a special place in my heart.

it ended ages ago, isn't some sort of influential classic, and never really did anything to piss people off so majorly that people would still be mad years later

I like the manga a lot.

A good number of the drama bits actually hit the mark more than I thought they would. Especially regarding Switch.

yeah, I read a good chunk of the manga, and really enjoyed it(Tsubaki's probably my favourite character), but only caught an episode or two of the anime
