Good lord, I remember this back during Yume Nikki and To The Moon stuff was still active. It also reminds me of the various manga adaptations of Yume Nikki which all sucks monkey cock. I guess this should be easier to adapt than that though.

She clearly had issues from the start, but Ellen is clearly a fucking cunt for just murdering her mother like that, yeah, she was abandoning her, but that was after realizing she was keeping herself in her room, and probably increasing her workload on purpose, also probably fed up with the life she was leading. Was it right? Not really, but anyone would snap under those circumstances, and she did genuinely care for her, even if she was trying to run away from it at the end.

honestly the most innocent person in this story is the dad. sure he might not have been able to love ellen or even look at her, but not once has he physically abused her nor did he ever stop working to provide for them. then the mother, the person he loves the most just ups and leaves without saying anything. that messed up , heck as soon as she left the house she found a new fuckbuddy willing to buy presents for her. ofcourse the man broke, but at least he didn't take it out on his daughter.

Pretty sure Ellen mentions that the house protected her along the way, in Viola's body, so it still recognized her as the owner, even if it doesn't feel like it.

Yen Press says they'll release it simultaneously with release in Japan, which should be sometime in the first half of September.
In meantime I guess I should play the game again since I barely remember anything. Feels like it was a mistake to read the manga without it.

I'm going to take a guess and assume that the reason Ellen might have taken Viola's body, wasn't just because of her sickness, since she's perfectly healthy here, but rather, she let herself get sick on purpose in order to swap with Viola and leave her for dead, the reason would be because, she heard Viola talk about her father most likely, and she probably said he was a wonderful person or something, and made her extremely jealous.

From what I remember of the novel, she's still sick / rotting away and becoming a witch has only delayed the process significantly. Eventually her health deteriorates to the point where she needs to body swap to survive.

The manga does a poor job of explaining it, but she stopped going outside in order to decrease her mother's workload. She realized her mother's love for her had been stretched to its thinnest point by the stress of having to take care of her, and so she confined herself to her own room out of fear of losing her love.

Hence why it's after she leaves her room for the first time in forever in order to bury the cat that her mother finally abandons her.
