Will there ever be a good visual novel anime adaptation?

Yes. Plenty. At least half of the key adaptations are great. They're basically expansions on the VN at best. So I really do enjoy them.

Not the guy you're replying to, but I think he means for any VN, not just Steins;Gate.
Thought I would say a bigger barrier is the lack of all of the information and details narration can bring, which, for instance, is why the Fate animes tend to make no sense or seem to be (but are not actually) filled with asspulls unless you already know the plot (UfoUBW is a big offender on this front.)

It's all KyoAni's fault for not doing Little Busters

Visual novel will almost always be better than their adaptation, simply due to the amount that has to be cut to fit them into an anime. If I had to pick one I would say ef: A Tale of Two since each story is short on its own, and A Tale of Memories is well done. I haven't seen A Tale of Melodies however.

Most people who like Fate like it either for the action or for the overarching universe. You can't really rely on the latter, so the former is the best way to sell an adaptation. The characters don't matter much any more.
