Actually Rudy keeps getting routinely shit on throughout the series even when he shouldn't due to screwing around/dropping his guard. One he deserved his harem, and two he never really learns that many types of magic he just sticks to the few he falls back on because he never really needed anything else for common and even uncommon enemies. The generic overpowered protagonist is constantly pit against "threats" that they can effortlessly steamroll over so the story becomes a zero stakes wankfest where the upper limits of the MC's powers are only ever displayed by him showing off rather than by necessity.

In contrast MT does a good job at pitting its MC against appropriately escalating threats that actually make fights tense. It doesn't even escalate to the ridiculous levels most shonen manga does by the end where the MC kills God because that job is reserved for his Jesus daughter instead.

The funny thing is that more you get into it the more his 'OPness' gets overshadowed by much stronger opponents he can't do anything about alone. For example no matter how he trained even as Oldeus he could never ever beat Orsted.
Or rather even in the beginning volumes he got paralyzed by a simple beastman's shout and got put in jail.
I like that side of it. The MC is not some immortal even if he's strong, tho when you think about it there isn't that much fighting in MT mostly adventure, exposing the world and sol arcs here and there.

Didn't like the harem aspect, but eh it was still better than for example 'buy a slave and instantly fall in love with it formula' he at least knew the girls and had lots of interaction with them except Roxy, screw Roxy.

Reading the redundancy volumes now and how Eris has changed made me nostalgic when i first started reading this. Hopefully somebody translates Laplace's story someday. I really like the world, there's Heaven Continent we know nothing about, also the underwater tribes who are unable to live on the surface and tons of other details. Can't wait for the sequel.
