I still download every new episode but haven't feel like to watch it further. It's a shame.

I dont even know why I am still watching this. Its one of the very few shows that I havent dropped, but its probably worse than most of the ones I actually did abandon. Guess its Eru, because the mechs look like shit.

Eh, the series is based on a so-so novel and is fully aware of it. It's not like the thing has much more going for it aside from the appeal of geeking out over MC's geek outs and robot shenanigans.

I for one am enjoying it.

Not every anime needs a complex plot or compelling characters.

For me the appeal lies in the world and watching one person begin to revolutionize it.

It's also one of the most optimistic anime I've seen in a while.

I want to fuck Eru

Is this the only thread? Feel like there were so many for the first few episodes. This week's was pretty good as I'm finding the evolution of the mechs really interesting but the massive time skips kind of feel somewhat off. It's not like anything is being missed outside of "insert development time here" but it really feels like they're just going full axle on the story.

From the previous threads, it seemed like the novels are all about the minute details of robot design that wouldn't translate well to anime anyway.

I'm not expecting much from this show to begin with. I like the fight scenes. They did a good job making the robots look and feel like fifty-tonne war machines.

I'm enjoying it too. I like the blend of mecha / knightly combat, plus mages too.

The innovation in the mechs and weapons is great, lots of different fighting styles too, then the fucking centaur knight.

The ONLY thing I hate about this is the fucking MC and how everything revolves around him, (plus him being a fucking trap too). So far the "reincarnation" bit was pointless, and he's too much of an Engineer + Strategist + Combat god all at the same time.

The other characters are pretty good (besides the girl who's needlessly squee'ing overhim all the time) and could do with more airtime. All the blokes (besides the MC) are pretty masculine etc too, especially the older ones who seem interesting and politically shrewd.

They have a LOT to work with, just divert all the fucking attention to the Mary Stu MC.

Really wanna see the mega mecha from the intro though, reminds me so much of Xenogears, specially with the flying.

Enjoyed the tournament, spesh seeing how the centaur one moved. Integrating cavalry into the knight army is quite revolutionary in that setting.

While true, I don't quite like how Eru is both the top designer, top engineer, top magician, and top pilot all at once. I do think he can drive the plot and continue to be an entertaining character just by being the the revolutionary engineer, but leave the piloting aspects to the other characters. Cut some of the banter between Ambrosius and Emrys and changed out some of the equipment on Guylinde and Erdetolle. Also made the fight less one-sided, as Eru's team originally didn't take any kind of damage at all, and only lost two to mana exhaustion while the rival team had 4 machines rendered inoperable.

Guylinde originally had the lightning flail mounted in its arm gauntlets and two powerful but short ranged shoulder cannons. Erdetolle had double shields. Pure offense and pure defense. Tzendorg didn't get its moving armor for hard movement shifts shown nor get to use its tow hook to utterly trash one of the opponent's Knights.

Guair is still the repurposed school machine with elements of Tellestarl added to it, and was not fine-tuned.

Later on, in the LN at least, his new machine based on a Kardetoll gets customized to look like his old one, but with jet thrusters for short distance hops, short-range but strong cannons, and his usual twin-swords style of combat.

Di would also go on to lead a squad known as the "gangbangers squad", because all of them follow his philosophy of brute-force offense.

Jesus, looked like that pulled 15 G's or more on launch, thankfully it's horizontal acceleration so black/red-out wouldn't be a problem and he could probably sustain that acceleration for ten seconds or so without issue psychically, which was about as long as it was able to operate due to the mana capacity.

Eh, the anime's rendition wasn't bad, but it didn't showcase the true extent of how powerful but flawed the units were (save for Tzendorg which was built from the ground up; which went straight from prototype to production). I like the LN's version more for the fact it showed just how much raw potential they had but how they needed an older guiding hand to temper and refine the designs for general use.

It also failed to show how Di went total offense while Edgar went total defense, as Di was actually doing much better against both until he ran out of mana, due to the high consumption of using the lightning flail and back-mounted flame cannons.

Those look to be anime-original changes. Gordesleo is also different between the anime and LN design. If I had to guess, those are dual-purpose armor/crystal tissue sheet "batteries". The Hymerwort and other command units had them as their "cape", while Tellestalle got it added for balancing and mana consumption mitigation in red test colors alongside the red sub-arms.

Yes.

Demon Beasts are common, everyday monsters, from the smaller mutant gorillas and dino-like reptiles to the larger worms, behemoths, and hives. The Knights on the frontier are mainly trained for Demon Beast attacks, which is why they were initially caught with their pants down when foreign powers decided they advanced their tech too much and wanted a piece of it. They were used to peaceful trading and mostly open borders with the inner kingdoms in exchange for them being the bulwark that held off Demon Beast expansion.

Of course, one shouldn't forget that they also did train for vs human combat as well. Their enemies critically underestimate this as well. An assassination and second theft attempt fails due to the entire Knight Corp being used to surprise attacks by Demon Beasts even while asleep.

I personally didn't mind the anime's version; I just wish it got the fur mantle. If anything, the anime design is a bit closer to the description; having had a lion-like visage on the chest.

The anime however got Silver Tiger slightly wrong; it was supposed to have some tiger striping on it instead of the grandiose "mantle".

Overall, the anime did a good job with mecha design similarities; the Tellestarles are near 1:1 save for some differences for animation purposes, and so were the Karrdators and Saldators (the obsolete units used by the school for Knight training).

Also, anime Ikaruga has slightly more ornamental armor than LN Ikaruga, but LN Ikaruga has as better mixture of gold and blue, in my opinion.

Because they were founded with the idea of making good quality CG for anime, instead of the oftentime budgetary reasons that cause other studios rely on CG. He can sustain indefinite flight and perform Freedom Gundam-style Full Burst attacks from all 6 gun-equipped arms. Made entirely out of strand crystal tissue, it can easily overpower even the heavily armored Tyrants with just one arm.

It's still flawed though in that Eru substitutes his own processing capabilities to make up for what the Magius Engine can't handle; which is mainly the movement.

Di however, is determined to be as upfront and personal as Eru, customizing his machine with Magius Thrusters on the shoulders, the lightning flails, and the strong but short-ranged magic cannons in addition to his twin-swords style of combat. Addy's father is Stephania's father. A Count, I believe.

Duke Dixgard, who Stephania was talking to during the Ambrosius/Emrys duel, isn't related to them; but is one of those alongside the Count who manage Knight development and distribution, if I'm not misremembering.

As far as we know (the LN didn't go into further details either), the twins were formally claimed by their father; as that was the original reason they were planning to run away and a reason why they got into conflict with their older brother, who felt threatened that the twins' superior skills would have them inheriting instead of him or Stephania (LN only).

As for Eru, I believe he's of noble lineage, even if it's low. His grandfather was in the same unit as Dixgard and Ambrosius, and knew Ambro's tendency to play tricks and tease others. He's also the Headmaster of the Academy, with Eru's father also being a Knight and teacher there as well.

Thus, Ady can mate with Eru, and Chid can become consort to the Kushepeca Queen, if either of them wants to.

I made a slight Error, Stephania's and the twins' father is a Marquis. Marquis Serrati.

What's translated of the LN thus far never went into much detail, but he and Dixgard are directly involved with Silhouette Knight management/development at the least. My guess, is that the Marquis handles the financial and personnel side of things, given that Dixgard seems to manage everything else.

Dixgard is the one the new units were sent to for initial study before being sent to the NTR labs, and also the one Eru makes his requests to in regards to Knight-related tech, such as the small Magius Engines he used for the Silhouette Gears, which Duke Dixgard then took the core design for and had it fast-tracked and refined for the Blue Hawk special forces group as stealth powered armor.

The Marquis on the other hand only had his twin children keep a lookout for Eru and give reports on his actions/developments, which he then decides to either send to Duke Dixgard or to the King (at least, from what little appearance he's made). However, he's present at the initial meeting between Ambrosius and Eru, and also has connections to both the Duke and Ambrosius, so he may have more power than his limited showing implies.

He cares for his sister, who married into the neighboring Kingdom, and laments his second son's muscle-headed tendencies, but he doesn't have the same level of fame as his father does. Nonetheless, Orange is amazing for one very simple reason. To my knowledge, all other CGi studios animated their shit at 60fps and then spend more money to remove frames so that it looks like its 24fps. Orange renders their mecha at 60fps and then throws them into the show as they are. So the fight sequences always look amazing.

The first season of Fafner is rough to get through, but the OVA, movie, and Exodus are really good. Not coincidentally, the latter two are also when Orange was brought in to work on the mecha action scenes.

Active Raid is mostly a buddy cop comedy. Mostly not serious, but somewhat fun. Orange did CG work for the powered suits that the police use in this.

It was mentioned earlier that the knight are made in human shape as a sort of extension the pilot's himself.

I'm guessing the piloting is a mix of typical mecha cockpit plus something like Eva's or G-Gundam's where the mecha's movement is based on the pilot's, or in this case their mana input to the mecha.
It has been noted by some of the anons above that the SK's do have a sort of premade macro'ed movements in its OS, whereas Eru can ignore that and go use the SK on 'full manual'.

This episode did show, they can one-up against others with sheer new tech advantage, but all lack natural honed combat experience.

The funny thing about it is that in the LN, the new Tzendribles were only recently adopted by a few Knight companies within the Kingdom, and only in small numbers due to cost, and mainly used for such purposes since it wasn't easy to relearn how to pilot a completely different machine. Moreso as it uses the biker-style seating arrangement (though it almost passes off as a racehorse-riding position too).

Thus, Eru's Knight force is really the only ones with Tzendribles in any sizable number, and the only one continuously expanding and refining their performance/capability envelope.
