I don't have an account. I should have made one when registrations were open, but I never did, because baka had the older shows I watched. But now baka is still closed, and I'm completely fucked. I haven't been able to watch anime in months, and probably never will again.

What is the Interstellar of anime. Something that you can enjoy a ride to an interesting take on the unknown. With a little more serious take without tired cliched bickering. Cliches are fine, but I can't take bickering anymore, especially tsundere shit.

New Yamato was pretty good.

If anything, BakaBT going private (and the nyaapocalypse) are what separated the wheat from the chaff. Seeing people beg for torrent links and download sources has been endlessly amusing, and seeing people ask where Nyaa went months later is hilarious in a pathetic way. Then you have the retrofags who act like the world ended because they can't download their entry-level "old-school" anime like Outlaw Star and Trigun in one click. Maybe it's time to git gud and learn to use IRC. Whatever you're looking for is probably available elsewhere.

I bet it has, you faggot. Guess what? There aren't enough registrations or invites given out on AB to allow most people to sign up. Even if all the "wheat" in the world wanted to, they couldn't get an AB account due to AB limits.
>>
>>161059353

I have a seedbox and thus usually hover around 10.00 ratio on all my torrent trackers, so I can download anything whenever I want.

Poorfags, seriously. Get a seedbox and you won't have to worry about trivial shit like ratios.

If you had a forum account, you can reactivate your tracker account. They are also doing invites via interview on IRC. You should have little use for it if you have an AB account though.

I prefer to stream.

>>161060567
BBT was so easy to maintain thanks to the google trick though, dl it with no ratio hit then seed the final product.
>>
>>161060716
I hope you save the anime on the seedbox, else it might as well be hosted in the cloud. You don't own a seedbox, thus you don't own the data, even if paying for temporary storage/bandwidth. Streamfag-tier.

>>
>>161060691
No, but I collected most well before all this shit happened. Yet anytime I go looking for something, I find it. Takes longer, maybe harder to source somewhat than before and not the same choices in subbing groups but that was minor.

Problem with private trackers is the same with pirate BBS'. You think you're safe until you're not. IPs are easy to trace. Anything hitting the US is subject to US privacy laws. You have to upload and thus are breaking the law when you do so, 100%.

Lots of torrents that have died on public trackers and it allows licensed anime unlike BakaBT. And yeah, it doesn't have a selection process like BBT which means you can find the sub you like yourself, at the cost of having a smaller seed count for each one of them.

The thing I like is that it has everything. If I want something I'll just get it with no fuss.

The thing is, you can find almost everything somewhere else without much effort. But when freeleech pops up it's just that much easier. There's the odd old thing that actually is hard to find, though.

Nothing, because I've had an account for years and already archived everything I want onto my NAS server. And even if I didn't, having a seedbox makes freeleech not a big deal.

Sitewide freeleech always seems to happen right after I've already spent a bunch of buffer on downloading a bunch of things and am I no longer really on the lookout to download anything in particular.

Then again it's so easy to get ratio on AB that I don't really bother to not download things just because they aren't available freeleech.

I could easily find obscure /m/ shows of the 70-80's without having to beg for invitations for a tracker, all completly public without bullshit. Getting anime isn't hard if you know how and where to search.
It also helps to know other languages, the french sub a lot of not so well known stuff, surprisingly.

there are mainly two types of people at AB:
1. weebs - this is probably 90% of the people who actually post on the forums, comment on torrent pages, upload screenshots, etc.
2. the /ptg/ types, who either don't care or have only a passing interest in the content, but use AB as a stepping stone or because they like to 'collect' trackers. these types generally don't post in the forums but are likely to actually seed/upload and have better connections.

the community benefits from both. IMO it's more important for a tracker to have the 2nd type though, and if you're just looking for a community to talk about anime stick with /a/ or other sites.

I don't even know what to get. I usually try to download better versions of shows I already have, but I already did that the last freelech. Last time I had to check some soundtracks to at least have something to download.
>>
Nobody NEEDS an AB or BBT account, but when you need it, it really comes in handy.

For example, I wanted to rewatch Death Note a few weeks ago, and when I went to my archive, I realized that back in 2008 or whenever I originally downloaded it, I had downloaded a standard definition version with hardsubs - not the bluray version. So, I needed to download a good bluray encode of a 2007 series.

There are many torrents listed on nyaa.si and TT, but you have no idea what you're getting most of the time. Some of hem have extraordinarily large file sizes. Others are from an obscure group. With some of them, when you download expecting a softsub, you'll find it will have hardsubbed karaoke subs and hardsubbed (animated) karaoke insert songs. Very frequently, there is a separate subtitle track for "signs," which doesn't contain subtitles for dialogues, but is set as default for some reason, so you'll always need to Next Subtitle when you open up a file. It's just a total shitshow.

This is why I liked BBT. The series was approved for quality to be listed on the site to begin with. Then, you had a huge number of people commenting on each torrent, so you'd likely find out about any quirks or issues prior to wasting your bandwidth on it.

It was kind of gay sometimes but it made me wish I had good friends

>If anything, BakaBT going private (and the nyaapocalypse) are what separated the wheat from the chaff. Seeing people beg for torrent links and download sources has been endlessly amusing
It's really not funny. Think about sources for anime. We're down to one reliable torrent site, a handful of nyaa clones, tokyo tosho, and IRC. The fragility of the free anime delivery system has gone way way up. And this isn't even taking into account the death of fansub groups.

In november I'm going to try and archive as much as I can, but between now and then any major shocks could really screw up the system. 99.99% of people are utterly reliant on the internet so they can download shows they don't have on their HDDs, but the wild west days are quickly going away.

You don't need to suck anyone's dick or have any online friends to find shit anon. That's the problem with sites like BakaBT, retards get so accostumed to them that when they close they are fucking lost.
There are lots of alternatives where you don't even have to register or know anyone. If you truly were a neet you should know at least some good alternatives to BakaBt.
And even if you don't it isn't hard to find places, you don't even have to leave this site for that.
I bet the anime you're trying to find isn't even that old or obscure.

I'm learning to cook for the first time in my life so it takes all my attention, and I'm shit at shopping so I'm usually short an ingredient and have to run to the store. It's right across the street but still wastes time.

That's my biggest fear. I'm well beyond those trashy "digital hoarder" articles and I'm constantly terrified of a modern day Burning of the Library at Alexandria. If the internet went down, we'd lose so much information it's not funny. If Google goes down, there goes basically THE index of the internet, and its utility drops by several orders of magnitude. It's a real problem with the system and IMO libraries should all be archiving and backing up each other as much as their budgets allow, but they don't because we haven't had a major crash yet.

It's really not hard. yes, basically
The upload credit/yen system also makes seeding old untranslated visual novels economical, because they're huge and have few seeders, meaning they produce lots of yen
That means I can find an untranslated version of whatever I want to read quite easily and get it quickly, saving me loads of time (it's not like doing stuff on AB takes much time)

I'm gonna steal this analogy for future use because that captures my own fear exactly. Maybe the choice of terms is a little pretentious, but there is such a vast cultural heritage of japanese animation alone, nobody will probably ever watch it all. Despite there even still being people who are older than the medium itself. In this information age of ours, with data storage cheaper than at any other point in human history, everybody should be able to go back to the roots at his or her leisure. And yet here we are, constantly at the brink of losing a good chunk of old series and OVAs. Nuts.
Anyway, however long it takes, you're doing God's work!

Considering I'm primarily concerned with anime, perhaps. But it really wouldn't take much to wipe out the internet, like I detailed in my previous post. Sure the ROUTING is resilient as all get out, kudos to the designers back in the day. But the indexing method currently used is basically Google, and there's no good backup. If Google goes, we'd be stuck using BING of all things. Or worse. I really do wish libraries would at least catalog SOME of the internet, if only pointing towards repositories of stored data, but they largely don't.

Maybe someday I'll be rich enough to do something about all that but in the meantime I can at least have enough anime to survive the apocalypse without being bored.

Do you know anything about translation? Introducing extraneous elements into the script negatively impacts the flow, and also make a lot of lines, especially those that require speed for impact, come off as awkward. Especially in something as reliant on comedic timing as Azumanga Daioh.

Most of all, using them also feels like an admission of defeat -- you're basically admitting you're unable to translate the text into English.

Retard, Death Note is SD, not HD. The best version of it is a DVD encode.

How about reading the description, retard?

WuG and getting better versions of Hidamari Sketch. Already have everything else, which is more of an annoyance than anything (having mostly run out of things to watch).

What makes Animebytes so good? Everyone always mentions AB when someone asks what the best anime tracker is, but why? I haven't been able to join AB so I just don't understand what makes it so good.

Why is AB considered better than BBT (by some) or AnimeTorrents?

It's easy to keep a ratio, and they have everything or close to it.

Dunno about AT, but AB has some torrents BBT doesn't have (or used to not have, dunno now).

Before the whole Bakabt fiasco there was literally no reason to get into AB. Retards would have told you that you could find anime that weren't on Bakabt but that was not a good reason because EVERYTHING that was not on Bakabt was on Nyaa. The moment something was taken down from Bakabt someone would upload it to Nyaa.

After the fiasco, since you will have to register to a tracker anyway, you might want to register to the site that has the most choice.

>Not the same thing as a work of art.
In which way exactly? you´re modifying someone else´s work for the sake of enjoyment. If the lining that you work with is that people that make fanart seek recognition of their work while copying the concept then I can understand that in part, but it´s not like fanart is limited by any standards of the original work in the first place, and even if the author decides to do so it´s still creating a new take on something people are familiar with
if I were to put a silver lining, it´s when people try to make money out of something like that, but even then it depends on the context: are you making money out of a series that it´s basically a fanfiction or are you making an individual commission for a fan who desires to see something on paper? I would not approve of the former, but what´s the harm with the latter?

>If I enjoy a work it's because it's made exactly how it is, why should I enjoy it if it's made in a different way?
because a concept can be flexible to a certain extent you autismo. if X character has a personality trait that would most likely work in a different context that was not shown in the original work and you go ahead an draw said situation, you aren´t really doing it in a different way
I seriously fail to understand your hate for fanart. I sure as fuck prefer that someone expands on something that already exists than make the same shit while pretending it isn´t like 90% of the isekai gendre
