I personally do. Her character is completely meaningless, which means Oda has a legitimate reason for bringing her along for the arc that isn't obvious yet, and she'd be perfect as an apprentice, which is one of the only two ship roles the Straw Hats don't have. She even assumed one of the gags I anticipated the cabin girl would have, which was treating Usopp and Chopper as her superiors even though she can beat them, and Pedro and even Oda's own artwork has made her stick out from the other Minks which is a staple of the Straw Hats. She has a lust for adventure, knows nothing about the sea and fits well between the Middle and Weakling Trios, I think, though some people think she can fight Zoro, which is ludicrous. She also works under people who were apprentices for Roger and we see that with the Straw Hats where they get people for a role from the best possible place to get people for that role. It would also be poetic for Luffy's apprentice to be named Carrot, since One Piece has been a spiritual successor to Dragon Ball, whose main character's birth name is a play on carrot.

It's not even about me liking her. Actually, in the anime, she's pretty fucking annoying. I'm just trying to take the material and deconstruct it to get into the author's head. I feel like the Straw Hats will definitely get two more crew members and they should do it before seriously fighting a Yonkou, so they're running out of time.

I don't like Jinbe, but he also fits really well. I'm not sure there's enough time to introduce a better character and the Japanese fans like him. If Oda replaced him on Wano, I think people would be furious.

I'm also an escapefag. I'm the anon who's always saying Kaidou won't be on Wano and tried to tell you guys Trebol and Katakuri weren't Logias. The One Piece manga is not as good as the anime desu. The Toei adaptation really elevated the source material. Going back through the earlier arcs without the music, voice acting and animation was a let down.

I'd like to argue with this. While it's true that Mihawk or Doflamingo would never lose to a rookie, I think Croc and Moriah was okay for a Grand Line enemy, also I think that both would fare quite well among non-haki users and those who only know some very basic haki (Yonkou henchmen).

Also let's not forget that, while Zoro and Sanji got visibly stronger through the series. Luffy's first powerup came late into Enies Lobby. Even then, that powerup was only technique-related, not strength related. He didn't get stronger, just utilized his rubber abilities with Gear 2 and 3.

Luffy was ridiculously strong to begin with (throwing the golden ball at Skypiea which weighs tons, and that huge mast during Usopp arc). I think his physical strength were easily low-New World level even at the start of the series, he just severely lacked real combat experience and techniques besides bullet, rocket and bazooka.

A few testiments to his strength:
- overpowering Arlong who was, while much weaker than Jimbe, still a seasoned fishman fighter
- breaking Krieg's armor, which was at least full steel
- the aforementioned golden ball throw

And so on. Let's not forget that when Ace left the island, he quickly become Whitebeard's man, and Sabo become the 2nd man of the revolutionaries.

So while Croc and Moriah not knowing about haki was a bummer, but where they operated, it was enough.
