They're a different beast. The second season is anime original and the first season already starts veering off at the end, so it's okay to start with but I would switch to the manga fairly early.

The manga is way better in my opinion, but I enjoyed the anime despite the 3D which is fine but takes some getting used to.

so far I know about the anime that they changed the 9/11 scene and that Kei is way bitchier than in the manga, but I didn't really care about him in the first place so I don't mind it.
