Kyon is Godmaker.

It had one of the weakest beach episodes that I've seen. I love beaches, but the one they stayed at, and the mansion that accompanied it, were so bland and lifeless, not once did I get the Wish-I-Were-There feeling that I get from almost every other beach episode ever. The fucking boat at the beginning was a more evocative location.

It's enjoyable and fun and inspiring, but it doesn't quite connect with me. It doesn't give the feeling an anime I truly love would give, and I don't love it for no reason either. It's fun, but that's all. 7/10.

It's one of my favorites, but I don't know what I would've thought about it if it weren't for the context of it being a cultural phenomenon in the anime community.

Not bad, but super overrated

What a coincidence, I just finished reading https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4994973/1/Meet-the-Suzumiyas yesterday. I recommend it to anyone who was butthurt with the light novel's direction. It's a good ending for Kyon and Haruhi, even if it ignores pretty much every other character.

It is literally the reason why every fucking LN ever gets an anime adaptation. And yet, few LNs manage to not be kitsch. Even worse, none are half as interesting and fun as Haruhi. Too bad the author went rogue and he'll never finish it. God, I wish KyoAni would animate all the stuff that is still LN exclusive. There's enough for another season and a movie.
