Utter nonsense and probably projecting, that's like saying he doesn't like the SBR characters because he doesn't draw them much these days as he's (understandably) focusing on JoJolion.

Virtually all of the characters he draws from previous parts are just the JoJos and main villains. Stuff like the PHF or JoJonium art is specifically because there's content for them.

I felt like this was kinda aimed at my theory posting about Cioccolata. It's not I feel Araki hates him, or drawing him but obviously feels something towards him. Considering Secco made it into JAGG's Stand orgy and got official illustration when Cioccolata never did. S I just finished Part 5 the other day.
I imagined that it would have a lot of Italian scenery, architecture and art, since I already knew Araki likes Italy a lot, and I wasn't wrong.

I also had heard about Polnareff and Silver Chariot Requiem but I thought the whole thing would last for like two chapters and then they'd go to fight Diavolo. Turns out Silver Chariot Requiem was almost more of a final boss than King Crimson was.

I felt that the Part 6 setup was better for Jolyne and let her become a better character in general, whereas Part 5 was better for the other characters but left Giorno in the dirt.

6 kind of felt more organic though, and there were SOME friendships within the group. Like Anasui, Weather and Emporio were all bros, same with how Hermes and F.F were.

It's harder with Jojo due to Stands themselves are an insight to a character.
Like with Abba's case, we can read from Moody Blues that he has some of connection to the past and some want of it by replaying it. Put that alongside his distrust of Giorno and is sharp anger but also a degree of protectiveness around the group. You could feasibly work out something along the lines of Abba's backstory without mentioning Cop. Of course it might be a little different but the poin is, at least for Jojo, the stands (in most cases a least.) mean more than their appearance.
Part 4/5 is riddled with them, Cioccolata, Aya, Tonio, Josuke, Kira, Diavolo, Carne, Ghiaccio(Albeit this one could be applied to anyone.)
When done right I think Stands give an extra layer to certain characters without having to have someone scream it.

I never said that you couldn't include that, I just said you can't include their role in the plot. A character reacting to things is what tells us what kind of character they are, in other words, it shows us their character traits. Wammu is shown to be honorable and just because he doesn't destroy Caesar's last hamon bubble.

Character design is important but what is even more important is basing a character's design off of their personality. For example, Hotpants disguises herself as a man and becomes more feminine as the story progresses.

You're annoying.

Polnareff is a charmingly silly man with a heart of gold. While he's not very good at thinking things through or planning ahead, he's alarmingly competent in a fight in spite of his buffoonery. Often the butt of jokes, he nevertheless manages to stay a genuinely positive and wonderful person, which is good because given how dark his backstory is most people would've become brooding loners. He has a somewhat vain and narcissistic side, despising things like unclean bathrooms, but isn't at all stuck-up, being one in his group most likely to chat and joke with the others. Although he's often a pervert, it seems that what he wants is genuine love and acceptance and a happy life more than just T&A, as shown when he lied to and bluntly rejected a lovely, interested woman because he knew he wouldn't be able to stay around or provide for her. He never hides his true feelings, whether they be joy, anger, or grief. His loyalty and dedication to people and causes he believes in are some of the most central parts of his character.

Wamuu is an honorable man who values his own (strange) moral code above all else. While he doesn't show his enemies mercy (unless he hopes to fight them again under better circumstances) he doesn't belittle them and treat them with cruelty either, unless he believes they've dishonored themselves. In spite of his dedication to his code of honor he doesn't expect his allies to abide by it, nor does he begrudge them for not doing so. Treasuring strong enemies above all else, Wamuu is genuinely respectful, noble and even gentle with those who'd earned his respect, doing what he can to honor them.

Carne came to mind because he's a character who most people define by either his appearance or NBIG. Yet he's the only character outright to have a stand that came out of a grudge that persisted through death. The extension of a Stand and that single little bit of information along with what NBIG is like makes Carne fascinating without Carne having to do anything.
We've had some interesting backstory discussions here based off of it. It's just another example of a Stand's influence.

Mista is a laidback, somewhat lazy and irresponsible guy who's the archetypical Italian youth. He's pretty casual and friendly to his companions, though he's also somewhat overly familiar and irreverent. He's very prone to starting really weird conversations about random trivia he's thinking about, which he does even in really situations. Due to his life being fucked up because of a simple, earnest desire to do good, he's developed a superstition bordering on an obsession which he believes helps keep him safe, but can send him into a panic at the worst of times. This is somewhat indicative of a darker aspect of his personality - he's somewhat prone to pointing the fingers and trying to place the blame rather than fixing a problem if he thinks it's too big to deal with. At the end of the day he's a cool, pragmatic guy who enjoys the simple things in life, but can and does shift into a remarkably calm and efficient fighter when he needs to.

Sandman runs fast. But he dies.

Those are just narrative devices, Araki includes them a lot of time, as often as there is a unique quirky villain. I think Araki sometimes just wants the protags to face a particular ordeal more than he wants to face a villain because questions like "how would a gunslinger beat someone who can stop bullets?" or "what's the worst monster I could put besides the protag inside a flying plane?" In Carne's case, he says that he even only wanted to draw someone like him, and have an enemy for Trish to fight against.

Araki has a very old-school but unique approach to storytelling and character management. Even now, he still has a draw-and-discard attitude toward characters and unlike most mangaka neither keeps his characters around for world building nor he tries to just keep a set cast and develop between them.
