I tried watching/reading this a couple years back. I dropped it some time after Mel first went nuts, right after a short fighting tournament or something. I really like Meliodas/Elizabeth because i absolutely adore this type of love stories which are fairly rare and two similar examples i can remember are both from video games and not manga. Mel has additional bonus of weird as shit family with one brother being borderline yandere for him and another being a grumpy tryhard who will probably turn into a softie later in story given that he already was unable to fulfil his duty once when it concerned his girlfriend.

He'll be back eventually. Mera survived being scorched, her remains cracking in two, having her neck snapped and like 6 hearts destroyed and she's still fine. And even if she did die it wouldn't necessarily stop her, considering that Helbram has already died like three times and always keeps coming back. Galan was one of Nakaba's favorite designs too so I'm pretty sure he'll bring him back. I'm kind of expecting Zeldris to be able to nullify commandments with the Demon King's power so he might have restored Estarossa to fighting form and de-petrified Galan already.

If it was just her vs the other Sins I could see her thinking that trapping Mel and using his anger to fight the other 5 could work, but since Escanor is also there she must have some kind of plan for him as well. She witnessed him make Galan shit his pants and got burned herself, then most likely heard from Zeldris about Escanor humiliating Estarossa later on. He came out of nowhere so I can understand them being taken by surprise in the beginning but there's no way the Commandments can underestimate him anymore.

I understand that Diane and King needed to power up somehow, but I feel like the holy war flashback should have happened in the goddess arc. The Commandment arc is already really long and there's been a lot of developments. Mel and Elizabeth's situations have finally been revealed in full, Diane got her memories back and got together with King, Ban got his waifu back, Gowther got over his identity issues. Mel and Eli still need to solve their issues and we're likely going to see development for Merlin and Escanor but that's about it, so the goddess arc is looking shorter than the Commandment arc, at least for now. There's also been a lot of power ups, to the point that I find it hard to believe the Sins are going to get much stronger than this, partly because most of the cast is really far behind and partly because the archangels aren't all that strong and there's only 4 of them.

The second arc being so long also means that the finale will most likely not be included in season 2, unless they pull a 3 cour which tend to be pretty rare these days.
