Look I like all three but Xros is much more competently made than either of those. Frontier is great ideas mired by sloppy as fuck execution and about 20 episodes of Royal Knights kicking the shit out of the protagonists where nothing is ever accomplished. Appmon wasted around 20some episodes and the plot really only kicked in at episode 30 when Yujin and Offmon join the cast.

- Xros failed at world building, threw away all power level and logic by removing levels, and it didn't make any of the fights interesting or worthwhile to watch.

- I'd still forgive them if they had interesting characters, but they didn't. Taiki is a giant Gary Stu and the whole universe bends around him and other characters became stupid because only he who could come up with great ideas. The other characters were his tagalongs because everything was all about him. They even ditched Akari and Zenjirou in 2nd arc, lol.

- Hunters arc especially dragged it down further (yes, it's still part of the season)w with poor characters, consisted of 99% fillers that focused on random characters of the day that nobody cared about, and in the end they had to make all other protags from previous series just to save the season. Heck, the art style and animation were even drastically different than the previous 2 arcs.

They finally were aware of this in Hunters arc where everything was simply referred as "Xros Up <base Digimon>", but at that point, the damage had already been done.

- Fanservice became stupid and excessive with Mervamon with giant tits and cameltoe, and Liliithmon being a whore (though the latter fits I guess). Gattai Lilithmon? Mervamon's boob lasers? Ugh.

- Weeven haven't talked about plot holes like how Bagramon revived to Clock Man because lol why not.

If those didn't scream poorly executed season all around, then you're blind. Even less than 1% of Japan watched it, lol. I probably would rate it higher than Frontier (2nd worst season) if Xros stopped at 2nd arc, but no.

Yes, Frontier has shitty Royal Knights arc and Appmon has slow beginning, but those shows redeemed themselves in some other areas. Xros Wars? Everything was executed sloppily and gigantic mess overall.

You are horribly overrating manga Taiki, he's not that much different than anime Taiki. Hell the core Digimon of team Xros Heart all get pretty fleshed out, all getting a full backstory and character development.

Akari and Zenjirou, on the other hand, got the same number of episodes as Taiki in the 1st arc and then got ditched later in favor of other characters that were not part of the group to begin with. An anniversary series meant to follow up on the Adventure series. People don't like it because:

As much as I hate that he won't stay dead, I really enjoyed Vamdemon. He's much of a bigger threat than anything the kids ever faced. Kurata and the Kaiser were great too as we can see how far humans can fuck up the Digimon and their world with their presence. No wonder Yggdrasil hates human interference.

Savers: Can't think of one.

Xros: Last episode of the main series was great. They beat Bagramon and Shoutmon was now well on his way to become the Digimon king.

I haven't seen anything in Tri that isn't particularly child-friendly. I guess the hot springs episode or Gennai licking Sora and Meiko, but past seasons had moments like that too, and they were marketed to kids all the same. Even the violence isn't any more intense than the past shows, like when Kuwagamon wrecks a place, and Tai focuses on a broken cellphone while any civilians hurt by the chaos are conspicuously absent from the scene.
