Because they mostly go for the pure type. It's not that easy to write a bodacious woman, odd as it sounds. Or at least to make her memorable and not just eye candy.

Also, the fact that they're protagonists make them easier to have some depth. Even when they're dangerously close to Mary Sue territory.
