Then there is the rest of TM, which is becoming more and more like the wild west of fandoms. Aoko is a prime example, shitposted to death, has a clone who is more popular purely due to Fate, and even her own fanbase have plenty to argue about considering certain facets of herself, and all her different appearances and forms, which for Saber fans, is actually really damn easy and comfortable.
These are just character examples, looking at all the works like this yields similar results.
After all this, I'll still keep waiting for something new. Nothing changes that.

Aoko is the case that she is shit at most spells, but very good at simple spells, generally for destruction. True Magicians are not limited by the fact they have True Magic, the regular spells of a magus can actually be enhanced greatly by them depending on which Magic it is. I forget the details but from the little that I remember crests are hard to transfer from one person to the next because what was compatible for the first guy wouldn't be compatible for some random other person, this lack of compatibility is lessened with blood relations though but as stated Rin and others the crest still hurts a lot. What happened with Shirou seems to be what they do when they want to make a new crest, I should reread the first volume of Case Files though because that one was all about crests.

Okay fine, modern magi are said to be complete shit compared to old-school age of the gods magi who could throw supernovas and rewrite reality and other shit. The problem with that is that a lot of Nasu magic is based on mystery, which is a whole other clusterfuck that doesn't quite make sense. The more mystery a magic has the more powerful it is but the more powerful it is the more prana or mana is needed to cast it. It sounds kinda cool, right? The major problem with all of this is that what principles does magic have? What foundation allows it to work other than the user tricking themselves into believing it will work? Shit like reinforcment and projection are shown to have a process but Nasu only gave it one because it was part of Shirou's super special totally unique reality marble that would be true magic(shit that's even worse because it just exists and will never be explained) if it didn't require mana to use. Nothing else is ever explained. How does Touko keep a demon cat of ethereal energy in a suitcase? How does Rin bind spells to gems? How does Roa reincarnate himself and manage to fool the world? How the fuck did Kayneth make a mercury slime monster? Nasu can efficiently bullshit his way through all this by making something up because there are no set limits or rules set on what magecraft is allowed to do.
